Sometimes You Just Know You’ve Been Had

But I can’t prove it!

Recently since my P.C was acting up weirdly I took it in for check-up and possible repair

Later on, I was told my pc needed a new graphics card which would cost £50 or he could offer me a new pc machine for the same price, he also said he offered to take my old pc in part exchange

I decided since the new pc was the same price as the repair, I would settle for that but asked if he could transfer all my saved information documents and installed software

Which the repair technician said he would do; I left his shop confident I was getting the best bargain

On Tuesday when my new updated pc was to be ready for collection, I had a call from the technician saying he was having difficulty and I couldn't pick it up until Wednesday

I was disappointed but waited and called on Wednesday for collection, he then told me he was unable to transfer my software data and documents due to a virus corruption

Somewhat reluctantly I returned home with the new pc, only to find when plugged in it refused to load “Missing disk information or No disk” was the only message on the monitor

After unplugging I returned to the shop and explained and returned home empty handed

Only a short while later he phoned me, I could go and collect the new pc as it was now working

So, it was I return and collect and re-plugged leads and switched on, this it booted up successfully

Then next disappointment: Apart from the Windows operating system there was nothing! No documents No pictures No other browsers only Edge

I yet again returned asking if he still had my old pc, as I wanted it back as there was too much information on there for me to lose not to mention all the installed software

It was then he re-told me of the corruption of all the data and stated it would be useless and probably manage the new pc if I did manage to transfer it

He also added that the hard disk was so worn out (something not mentioned before) he would be trashing that pc by using the local refuses

Having had time to think about all this, I feel as if he is cheating me somehow, as if he was going to trash the old pc, he would be losing out money since the new one was over a £100 or so he said

Also, he made no mention of erasing the data before trashing the old pc, for all I know he could be lying about the condition so he can make use of the saved bookmarks and information to gain access to sites to make money from them with downloadable products etc
