Garbage In Garbage Out - When Best Plans Fail Like Some Home Business Owners with New Advice

“The best laid schemes o' mice an' men / Gang aft a-gley.”

Robert Burns

In many ways I am blessed to live in our town nestled in a river valley with tall well-forested mountains on all sides. We share the peaceful surroundings with about 3000 inhabitants and whatever wild life would like to grace our attention.

We also have a city council elected last year who somehow decided to install bear-resistant bins for every household. There was no public input but, all of sudden, one day about 3 weeks ago a large green bin appeared in my driveway with two additional blue bins for different kinds of garbage. The same bins were delivered to every household on my street and beyond. I was told the bins cost about $200 each.

The best plan was to cut garbage pick-up expenses by half because scheduled runs would happen bi-weekly rather than weekly. Garbage bags would be stored within the bins for two weeks at a time filled with whatever undesirable left-overs seemed fitting, including, I'm sure, meat scraps to decompose for 2 weeks at a time, in ideal warming conditions.

Well, within 3 weeks, trouble was being reported.  It soon became evident that the bear-resistant bins were not bear-proof!  In other words, the furious hunger of a spring time bear had no match with a man-made plastic apparatus with heavy chains and hooks.

My bin was knocked over twice, but no entry ... probably a small bear.

However, one neighbour's trash can was ripped open and offal scattered on the other neighbour's lawn.

An older woman complained it was too heavy to move and too deep to retrieve a bag to continue filing it.

Well, the council spokesperson had to become defensive very quickly.

"These carts are designed to deter bears from an easy meal but it is expected that food conditioned bears will test the carts that are left outside in the open."

"It will take some time but eventually the bears will learn it's not worth the effort and risk to bother with these bear-resistant carts."

I wonder if they ever talked to a bear to know his REAL needs and feelings!

What's the lesson here for some home business owners?

...Please do your due diligence before rushing into a home business venture based on dreams. Only start to dream after you have made some income.

...If a second opinion from your trusted neighbors think it’s a risky deal and they're not interested, maybe they are right. Your plan will be hard to duplicate.

...If marketing online, make sure you talk with your prospects to learn more about their experiences, needs and goals.

...Don't blame your sponsor (or recruiter) for misleading your expectations. There are lot of rapacious bears out there willing to take your money and run!

Best advice is to check out a generic home business resource called Motherlode Marketing.

It provides the Big Picture about the Modern Day Gold mRush with 5 valuable steps.

Joining a network marketing company is the last step.

No more garbage.

I look forward to sharing more stories about best laid plans, intentions and how to make a fortune in the Modern Day Gold Rush.

PS: Easy to refuse a company's website but illogical and hazardous to refute a new changing Digital Economy.

Who would deliberately negate the BIG PICTURE about changing economy,  positive mindset, core values, or simplified internet marketing focus?

That would be too easy, right?
