Time Management - Use Your Time More Effectively

Today’s environment for many of us was fast-paced and crazy BEFORE we ventured into the internet!  Now we have training, blogging, websites, networking, social networks, etc. added to our already hectic schedules!

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaagh!!!!!

This is, of course, a natural reaction.  We become ‘overwhelmed’ and too many who are ‘new’ to the whole ‘internet thing’ give up at this point.  The main reason is that we try to take on too much at the same time; we don’t ‘pace’ ourselves.

When you are already obligated by a full-time job, college, school, children, etc., your days are seemingly full as it is.  Time management techniques and skills, combined with using various ‘tools’ and creating a positive, focused mindset is almost essential to your success.

At one point, I had the world by the tail…….then it all crashed to nothing.  There were family illnesses and deaths….those are just a few of the multitude of ‘things’ that life threw my way …. all at the same time, or one behind the other!  Once the severe depression began to subside and with the support of each and every one of you here, I am once again ‘starting over’ so to speak.

Somehow, though, I had become overwhelmed by trying to do it all at once…..and perfectly, too!  I am my own worst enemy.  What I learned is that this perfectionism is also a disguised form of procrastination; the procrastination was an offshoot of depression.  What a mess!

Unable to do anything constructive, I once again delved in reading and researching what the heck is going on.  I love to dissect myself, self-analyzing is an almost crippling attribute of mine.  Somehow I came across some useful information and here it is:

Keep a memo book or use your phone’s memo attributes to record your every move for one week.  For example:  got up at ________, got ready and left the house at __________, during my breaks at work I __________________, when I got home I spent _______________hours/minutes …..you get the idea.  Yes it is difficult to be complete, but the more detailed your notes, the better result you can achieve!   After one week…..analyze your moves, actions, etc.  Where are you wasting time?  What could be combined?  What could be eliminated or greatly cut down (i.e. online gaming, chatting, etc.)  I even stopped watching TV…..the news and current events I get off the internet.

There are multitudes of online tools to use time more effectively…..depending on your circumstances, these are lifesavers!  Using free tools such as Buffer, ScoopIt, etc…….

My apologies for this being short and not very detailed; this is being scribbled in le babysitting an active 9-month-old, a house full of people, and a few other things….lol.  In any event, you get the idea.

Proper mindset is imperative to success.  Do the research, find out what works best for you and implement into your life.  When you start in the proper frame of mind, all things are possible; when you are not focused, neither is anything else…except failure.
