Lintner: "Thanksgiving was never meant to be shut up in a single day."

Today is Thanksgiving Day, a day of delicious food, loving family and friends. And... oops, I forgot…. and football!

Hopefully, you will enjoy your scrumptious meals, loved ones, and those three big NFL games: Minnesota Vikings vs. Detroit Lions; Washington Redskins vs. Dallas Cowboys; Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Indianapolis Colts.

And as the excitement and festivities of today wan and the onset of the Christmas rush begins with Black Friday and Cyber Monday, let us remember Robert Caspar Lintner’s message: “Thanksgiving was never meant to be shut up in a single day.“

As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them. - John Fitzgerald Kennedy

If the only prayer you said in your whole life was, "thank you," that would suffice. - Meister Eckhart

The unthankful heart... discovers no mercies; but let the thankful heart sweep through the day and, as the magnet finds the iron, so it will find, in every hour, some heavenly blessings! - Henry Ward Beecher

Let us remember that, as much has been given us, much will be expected from us, and that true homage comes from the heart as well as from the lips, and shows itself in deeds. - Theodore Roosevelt

He who thanks but with the lips
Thanks but in part;
The full, the true Thanksgiving
Comes from the heart.  - J.A. Shedd

And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him. Colossians 3:17

Gratitude can transform common days into thanksgivings, turn routine jobs into joy, and change ordinary opportunities into blessings.
- William Arthur Ward
Thanksgiving Day comes, by statute, once a year; to the honest man it comes as frequently as the heart of gratitude will allow. -  Edward Sandford Martin

Enjoy your Thanksgiving Day!
Be Blessed, and Be a Blessing,
Patricia Reynolds
