Who Directs Your Paths!!!

Chapter Ten

God Is Directing Our Paths

We sometimes think situations happen by chance or luck, but that is never the case. The Father is always leading us toward His plan for our lives. We may fall off His plan for our life. We may fall off his path, but He will make sure He directs us back because He loves us and has a purpose for each and every one of us.

Bread of Life

We can make our plans

but the Lord determines our steps.

Proverbs 16:9

The Lord Was Directing My Path

Living in foster care was living stress-free. While with my family, whenever I or my sisters did something wrong we received a whopping or loss of privileges. Foster care was very different. Caseworkers let the children know from the start that if a foster parent put their hands on a child in any way, cussed at a child, or threatened a child, to report it to them immediately. I, being fourteen and used to getting my butt whopped if I did something crazy, took full advantage of this rule. Letting me know that I couldn’t be touched, no matter how horribly I behaved, was only setting me up for trouble.

I started being rebellious to instructions and felt that no one could tell me anything. I started smoking weed and running the streets again with my old friends. My foster parents did not like me hanging around my old friends and used to tell me to stay away from them before I got into a world of trouble. I, thinking I was grown up, ignored their advice and continued to hang with my friends, anyway.

My foster parents soon got tired of me, and told my caseworker I couldn’t stay with them anymore because I was too hard-headed. My caseworker begged them to allow me to stay in their home at least until he could find another home for me. They agreed, and I stayed with them for about another month. Although my caseworker tried to find another family to accept me, he couldn’t.

Most foster parents don’t like accepting kids over thirteen years old because they feel that teenagers think they are grown up and that most become hard-headed troublemakers who would be a bad influence on the younger kids in the home. So my caseworker ended up sending me to Atlanta, where I was accepted into an independent living program called The Young Adults Guidance Center. The Y.A.G.C. program teaches young adults independent living skills to help them be on their own in the world.

I found myself stuck in a new and even worse reality. My misbehaving had led me to Atlanta, a city where I knew no one and often felt out of place and alone.

Even though I thought it was the worst place I could be, I didn’t know God was directing my path.

The Lord Watches and Directs Our Paths

We were falling into a life of regret and darkness, But the Lord was our shepherd

He kept us safe and protected. He leads us through the rain, mist, and thick fog, Holding our hand so, if we slip, we shall not fall.

Guiding us toward happiness, peace and eternal life, The Lord is our guide,

Our light to see in the night. His love is compassionate and how great is His mercy, Still blessing us when we are wrong and did things that weren’t worthy,

Helping us when we were lost and steering us away from harm,Taking care of our needs,

And if we were cold keeping us warm. We are always in His grace when we awake to another day,

The Lord is our protector. He directs our paths and our way.

Way of Life

In all your ways acknowledge him and He shall direct your paths.

Proverbs 3:5 (NKJV)

Prayer,

Thank You Heavenly Father,

For loving me, and blessing me with Your many blessings. You have always kept me protected and directed me away from harm. Please forgive me for falling off Your path. I trust You in leading me to the life You have planned for me. You are righteous and always faithful to me and I am truly grateful. Please guide me in this life and keep me in Your protection. In Jesus Christ’s name I pray, Amen!
