I Know, I Know, I Know.

I Know, I Know, I Know.

As a child you may recall being told to do something, to which your quick response was "I know, I know, I know." This response would be met with the question " If you say you know, why aren't you doing it"?

"To know and not do is really not to know".

~ Stephen Covey

The insightful quote above makes a great observation. Knowing something but failing to act upon it shows that we really don't know what we say we know. It is in the application of knowledge that demonstrates our true understanding of something.

A great example of this point is the thousands upon thousands of books read every day by millions of people on the subject of wealth creation. After years of consuming such information, there is a temptation for some of these people to declare that they now know and understand how to be wealthy, but in reality their bank balances tell a very different story.

When we say that we 'know' something, it must be evident in more than just our words alone. How many people will claim to know about healthy eating and staying hydrated throughout the day? But do they really know if their diets consists largely of junk foods and sugary drinks?

As I get older, I realise how little I do know, not because I'm ill-informed or slow to grasp information. I absolutely love to learn and devour new information on a daily basis, however the real question is: How much of that information is put into practice? I know the answer, it's 'Not Enough'. Yes I could do better, much better and this is humbling to me because it's not about how clever we are but how receptive we choose to be.

Of course, it's not possible to act on every bit of information we digest but what if we increased the convertion of knowledge into action by an extra 10%, Sounds like an insignificant amount doesn't it? But wow, that 10% could make all the difference of going from broke to wealth and super health.

The next time you utter the words 'I know' or 'I understand', take a moment and review the evidence of the actions, have you backed-up that statement with action? It may surprise you how little you really do know and open your eyes to what action-taking is needed. The true power of knowledge is only evident in its application, so go forth and be powerful!

I hope you found this post interesting, I know I enjoyed sharing with you today.
