Social Security
You would have to be living under a rock to not know that the Social Security and Medicare Programs in the United States are in deep financial jeopardy
Ask anyone under the age of 50 whether they think they will receive Social Security and my experience is 9 out of 10 will say "no I doubt it" and the 10th one should probably be on Social Security Disability already :)
The reality is that the system is significantly underfunded - not enough money in there to pay the benefits that the system has promised over the future lifespan of the recipients in the pool.
The likely solution is we will see - at some point - some combination of higher taxes, lower pay-outs, increasing of age to receive benefits or a quasi privatization of some if not all benefits.
The biggest two problems are
#1 - US Citizens are living longer and longer and the actuarial assumptions in the system did not reflect that. I'm not complaining for increased longevity but I'm pretty sure - at age 52 - I'm going to have to have a "plan B" for more income. I'm planning on living to 100 and I spend too much time shopping at WalMart to want to work there.
#2 - We stopped having babies in America. Leaving the abortion issue alone, the birth rates since the great post World War II "baby boom" have steadily declined. I grew up with 5 sisters. I have 2 sons and worry about how to put them through College in a few years. If my 10 and 7 year old sons both go to College it could easily be $300,000 to get them through. Yipes - I'm glad I don't have 6.
Sandia Presbyterian Church (that's the church I used to go to - left it in July 2012)
When my son was born 10 years ago my wife and I started attending this Church that had been founded in 1993 and grown to 1800 ish members by the time we joined. At 42 and 33 we (my wife and I) were young in this church.
Like a lot of traditional churches in the USA we haven't been very appealing to the young people. The young people want contemporary upbeat music and that's where they are going to church - those "super churches" where young people hang out - mingle
Those churches are growing
Meanwhile we are lucky to have 500 people in Church on Sunday and 5 percent of them are under 18. 55% - when I left - were between 65 and 100!
Your Network Marketing business
Learn from the mistakes of the two examples here - embrace youth - find them - learn what they want - what they like - how they think. They are the future of your business - mine too...
And they need us - we can mentor them not to make the mistakes we have. We can save them infinite amounts of time and give them valuable direction and feedback.
But where do you find them? Well you could try the local "Mega Church". Or anywhere young families hang out. Get your yellow pad out and do some brainstorming with your group.
Other countries have a much younger demographic than ours. Maybe you should be recruiting in the Philippines or Indonesia or New Zealand.
How about the internet? Social Media - twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Plurk, MySpace (sort of), Flickr, StumbleUpon, Digg and many other are a rich source of younger people.
BUT...
It's uncomfortable for the average 50 plus US demographic to get his/her brain around social media
That's where my friend Jim Palmer can help. He's put together an easy to learn - easy to use Social Media marketing program that even I can understand. Take a look and feel free to call me in Albuquerque at 505-450-1574 with any questions. Jim always over delivers. Take advantage of his information before you spend any money
Social Media is the present - and we need young people. Let's get going
