Life Insurance for Smokers who want to Quit

Thousands of people stop smoking each & every day – by dying from it” - unknown

Most people, who have quit smoking, have had at least one unsuccessful try in the past. It is not important how many times you try to quit. The only important thing is, that eventually you stay quit

As of 2013, the number of American smokers is 17.8% according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. In 2005, it was estimated that 20.9% (or 45.1 million) of all U.S. adults were current cigarette smokers.

I’m one of those “x-smokers”. For some period after quitting, ex smokers are perhaps the most annoying human beings in the world. I deliberately started smoking when I was 20 because I looked 15 and I thought it would make me look older. Hard to do business in 1979 when you looked like you just qualified for your first paper route…

Of course I got my wish. After a few years of heavy smoking I looked a LOT older than I was. One of the joys of smoking.

Fast forward 30+ years and I haven’t smoked in decades. I was lucky. Didn’t give myself heart disease or lung cancer. Saved a LOT of money.

Started and stopped a few times along the way for sure but with repetition and reinforcement I replaced that bad habit with better ones.

Many cigarette smokers in America fit that same profile. They want to quit and although many won’t, many will.

Lot’s of things are more expensive when you smoke. Smokers burn clothing, furniture, shoes and car seats. And then there is insurance...

If you smoke you’ll likely pay more for car insurance, homeowners and health insurance and of course LIFE insurance. Smokers die sooner than non-smokers. Life insurance companies figured that out 50 years ago and started charging them more.

A 43 year old man who does NOT smoke and is in good health will pay $25 a month for $250,000 of 20 year term life insurance.

A 43 year old man who smokes - $87 a month

A 30 year old woman in good health who does NOT smoke will pay $17 a month for $250,000 for a 30 year term life insurance - BUT - if she smokes - $47 a month!

But remember a LOT of those smokers - Quit.

About a year ago some friends of mine came up with the idea that we should have a life insurance program that rewards smokers who quit.

We convinced a major life insurance company to underwrite the program and it’s designed to benefit people who smoke between the ages of 20 and 50 who need life insurance AND are committed to quitting.

I’m looking for people who fit that profile and want life insurance and for independent insurance agents who are looking for what we have and want to sell something nobody else has...

The best price for life insurance for people in that category.

If you know either group I’d appreciate it if you let them know that we have something NOBODY else does.

Greatly blessed - Highly favored and eternally grateful
