Thanksgiving Gratitude

I’m grateful for all that I have in the 6 areas of my life that I count.

My boys,  Max and Gus, are healthy, doing well in school and reasonably well adjusted to life as we know it.

My wife Leandra and my 5 sisters, 5 brother-in-law's, 8 nieces/nephews and their spouses and children are likewise doing well.

Sure, we all have some challenges but in relation to the world, we are doing very well.

When you have a few minutes, go to a website called “Global Rich List

It can give you a little perspective. More importantly it should encourage you to “count your blessings”...

A couple of years ago, my total income for my family of 4 “bottomed out” at about $36,000 for the year. That was a tough year. We spent more every single day than I brought home and we were cutting every expense we could...

While my kids never lacked, I skipped dental work and visits to the eye doctor. I went without health insurance and drove a car that used as much oil as it did gasoline.  BUT…

If I had been born in Zimbabwe I would have been making 53 cents an hour instead of the $18.75 an hour I made in that worst year.

Of the approximately 7 ½ billion people on the planet I earned more than 99 percent of the rest of the world.

When I totaled up the “meager” equity in my home, money in my IRA, cash value in my life insurance and “quick sale” value of my cars and furniture it turns out I was in (at that worst year) in the top 17 percent of the world’s “wealthy”.

About 750 million people had more than I did - BUT - over 6 Billion people had less.

Be grateful for what you have. Somebody always has more but usually more people have a lot less.

Greatly blessed and Highly favored

Bill Bateman (like Batman with an “E” in the middle I tell people on the phone every day)
