Keep in mind that none of these colors are negative or positive—there are good/questionable people in all groups and that’s what makes the world go ‘round. We all have components of the colors in us even though we might have one MAIN color. When you get super good at it, you can tell a person’s color within a sentence (if not before) and it becomes a game. You can even identify which color a commercial is geared for—i.e. for cars--tons of safety stats, crash tests etc. for GREENS, flashy and high-powered images for REDS, environmentally friendly and useful for YELLOWS, and fun and wild for BLUES and so on.
GREENS/Owls—35% of population—
Overview: Greens are all about order—everything in it’s place, alphabetized, color-coded and arranged in descending order by size and so on. They are analytical and are tickled by facts, figures, charts, research and so on. They want to be right about things and they want to know that they are not making a mistake or not following through. Their lives ARE DETAILS. A green is rarely going to make a spelling mistake or a grammatical error. The greens are the people who buy Volvos and mini-vans and have subscribed to consumer reports AND send back the rebate offer so that they get $100 back. They like to be in control of their space—not other people. A green cannot work until everything in the workspace is in perfect order. Chaos makes them crazy and blues can drive them crazy. They are never late and are dependable and conservative in what they do, say, wear, etc. They are problem solvers and cannot be rushed in doing something. They are the people who show up for work 45 minutes ahead of time so that everything can be in order for the day. At dinner a green will order the healthiest meal or the dish that has been reviewed as “the best dish on the menu” asking questions about how it’s prepared etc.
Jobs: Engineers, some doctors (although some are yellow and some are red), most attorneys, architects, finance/stock brokers, accountants, editors
Clothing: on the conservative side—black, navy, gray, not looking to stand out for clothing but have good taste and be “appropriately dressed” for business etc. A green man or woman will think that a red shirt is a wild thing to wear.
Key words/Phrases used by GREENS: research, due diligence, facts, figures, run the numbers, spreadsheets, details, analyze, questions, check into
Weakness: Greens can sometimes procrastinate because they are “getting ready to get ready” by putting everything in order and wanting to know info inside and out. They can be critical but will not quit—slow and steady wins the race are what greens stand for and they have all the numbers and graphs to prove that it’s all about THE SLIGHT EDGE.
What to say to a GREEN prospect: “I’m here to answer questions and provide all the information you need. Take your time and get comfortable with the company and the research. “Would you like a follow up call to go over the information?” Or if that’s too risky for you or doesn’t work for your presentation then arrange a precise time and date for your follow up apt and DON’T BE LATE!!!!-
Where to send them: Keep it simple—they don’t like any hype at all and don’t push testimonials on them—they want facts only!
Tomorrow Part 4: REDS/panthers—15% of the population
