As I’ve been able to watch my business grow and develop, I’m often reminded that being a business owner is very similar to being a parent. I have an 11 year old, a 13 year old and a 15 year old. All three of them fill me with pride on a daily basis, yet present me with challenges from time to time. I feel the same way about my business!
When our child is first born, we are filled with excitement, wonder and a sense of amazement that we were able to create this incredible person all by ourselves. Business people feel the same way! We’ve created something and get to watch it grow. We’re excited by what we have and what it will develop into. We are able to nurture it and watch it grow – just as a parent does with their child.
Now comes reality. Just as an infant needs constant attention, so does a business. You do need to put effort into it every day. Be consistent. So many people tell us that they’ve got a business that you’ll be able to “set it and forget it.” You’ll make tons of money and not have to lift a finger. Do you really think that’s going to happen? If you’ve done your research, you’ll know that you need a marketing plan for your business. You want to implement that plan and consistency is the key for success. How is your search engine ranking? Are you writing a blog each day? How are you reaching your target audience? How is your website? Does it need revamping?
I love watching my children try new things and achieve success. I’m the same way with my business. Being an Affiliate Business Owner with Xpress Healthcare allows me to do things that I’ve never done before. I’m able to advertise using a variety of social networking. I hadn’t used Twitter much before I had my own business. Now it’s a part of my workday and is vital to my success. I’m on several websites posting blogs, advertising and interacting with people who need to save up to 85% on their healthcare and non-medical costs as well as people looking for a home-based business. I’m able to talk with different people every day and know that I’m able to help them. Each day I try to learn something new and perhaps implement a new way to advertise my business. I want to be consistently growing with my business.
As business owners we know that we’ll never be finished working on our business – I think about my business every day. As a parent, I doubt that there will ever be a day that I’m not thinking about my kids. Give your business the attention it needs to reach the goals that you’ve set and watch it flourish. As parents, our children are one of the biggest sources of pride in our lives. As a business owner, your business should also be a source of pride. You’ll see your hard work will pay off and your business will continue to grow many years into the future.

 | | You are so right about every point here Cheryl. Each time one of my team members does something great, I get so excited for them! I'm nearly as proud of them as I would be for one of my kids' accomplishments! |
