Copywriting For Beginners - A 6 Step Formula

For additional information  Click Here

Copywriting  has been defined as the art and science of writing copy (words used on web pages, ads, promotional materials, etc.) that sells your product or service and convinces prospective customers to take action. In many ways, it's like hiring one salesman to reach all of your customers.

If you thinking about studying or learning how to write copy, let me share with you a simple 6 step formula that I learned from a renown copywriter called Ray Edwards.

You can check out his blog HERE.

He calls it the PASTOR method, not to be confused with a Pastor in a church.

It’s an acronym P.A.S.T.O.R and let me break it down for you.

1.P, stands for Pain or Problem, (Pleasure - I added this one).

You start of by introducing and describing the pain, or problem that the person is experiencing - or the pleasure that they wish to attain.

Example, Are you struggling to attract quality leads into your business. Are burning a hole in your bank account buying worthless leads with nothing to show for it, or imagine if you could attract several quality leads everyday into your business.

2. A, stands for Amplify.

Here you amplify the pain or problem, or indeed the pleasure that they would attain.

Example, How is not having enough leads affecting your business? Could it lead to further issues in your life, such as money problems a nagging spouse or even stress and depression. Or imagine having 3-5 quality leads contacting you everyday about your business. What would that do for your bottom line and how much more profitable will you be?

3. S, stands for Story.

You want to tell a story about how you came about a solution to the problem, pain or attainment of pleasure you’ve described in 1 and 2 above.

Here you can empathize with your reader to let him/her know that you’ve been in there shoes before. But then you came about a solution that changed everything. You were then able to attract leads at will, and your business picked up.

4. T, stands for Testimonials.

You want to introduce social proof here by way of testimonials of people who are benefitting from your solution.

Example, You don’t have to take my word for it, this is what Linda had to say. “I used to dread having to cold call and chase leads, now I don’t even have to do any chasing, and I have people calling me up everyday wanting to learn more about my business. I still pinch myself as I can’t believe how easy it is once you know how.

5. O, stand for Offer.

This is where you introduce your solution to your viewers. You’ve established their pain, problem or pleasure needed. You’ve amplified it, and told them the story of how you discovered a solution. You’ve shared the testimonials with them.

Now it’s time for them to discover your offer.

Example, Struggling to attract quality leads in your business will be a thing of the past with The Attraction Marketing Formula. You can then summarize briefly what they will learn and how it will help them.

6. R, stand for Response.

Now it’s time for you to give your readers a call to action (C.T.A) otherwise know as a response. This can be a call to buy, a request to contact you for a strategy session, or whatever action you want them to take.

Example, You can get The Attraction Marketing Formula today by clicking the link below and you will be taken straight to an order form. We are having a 50%discount for the next 7 days only. (You can also inject some urgency)

Congratulations. If you’re still reading then you’ve just finished a mini crash course in copywriting using a simple 6 step formula.

Use this the next time you want to write any kind of copy whether it be in an email, a web page or a sales page or even a landing or squeeze page.

Are you struggling with any aspect of your business? If so, You can get a FREE 1-1 15 minute strategy session with me.

Simply send me a message with the words 1-1.

Remember you miss 100% of the shots that you don’t take.
