Try talking in a different way

Family members tend to get angry when they are offered unsolicited advice, not only because they don’t want or need it, but because it makes them feel judged.

Too many families operate under the tenet I care therefore I criticize to the receiver, what comes though clearest is the criticism. But the one offering a suggestion is usually focused on caring.

The cumulative effect of these minor. Innocent suggestions can create major problem.

Try putting yourself in the other persons shoes Just knowing that your actions and words will have a resounding impact on him or her means you are not completely free to do as you please, and fight fair, avoid sarcasm, sidetracks and insults.

We react not only to the meaning of the words but also to what we think those words say about the relationship based on, say the tone of voice or the phrasing and on past associations.

Try talking in a different way to alter the meaning of an interaction: Be wary of offering advice and try offering understanding instead. Or just change the way you interpret what is said: Regard your sibling’s advice as the suggestions of a peer rather than dismissing it with resentment.

Words of wisdom

Stay away from the love of money,

be satisfied with what you have,

For God has said, I will never fail you,

I will never forsake you.

That is why we can say with confidence,

The lord is my helper, so I will not be afraid.

Hebrews 13:5-6

Earthly temptations fall away

as we focus on heavenly things

I hope these few words today

Will be a blessings to someone

Thank you for stopping by.
