Stand By What You Say
When someone tells me that they are going to do something, I expect them to do it.
If for some reason things change, then I expect to be informed of a change of plans as soon as possible.
It is not wise, especially in business, to leave someone hanging. Waiting for the call, the meeting, the payment, whatever has been set up to take place
If something comes up to make you have to change your plans of what has been agreed upon between you and someone else, the best thing for you to do is to contact the other party, as soon as you can, and let them know.
Personally, I understand that things happen. This is "Life", right? However, I do not understand why people do not follow up with things.
Even if you dread calling up that other person to inform them of whatever the reason is why you can't do whatever you had said you would do, you still need to bite the bullet and just do it. Otherwise, you are going to look bad and it probably will go against you in the future somehow.
Maybe it's just a matter of needing to reschedule.
I have found since working with people out here on the internet, that keeping your word and being accountable for what you do is a key factor in not only building relationships, but also of having people join your team and helping you succeed.
If you can not count on someone to return your phone call or follow through with something simple in the beginning when you are first making contact with them, then how and why would you believe that you can trust them to help you build your business into a respectable business that others can trust and rely on?
I for one, take that as a flag, whether it is a yellow or red flag, doesn't really matter. To me, it just means maybe you need to take a harder look at whoever or whatever you are dealing with.
The way you conduct yourself out here or anywhere in life, will show people what kind of person you are.
So, stand by what you say and you will go further than trying to back out and go around avoiding it.

 | | Great blog, Darleen ... believe me, people do notice when you keep your word. Throughout my real estate career and Network Marketing business, I have had people tell me they can always rely on me to do what I say. Thanks for sharing this! |
| | | | | Very well said! It truly boggles my mind that this post even needed to written, and yet I know it did. Thank you. |
| | | | | I appreciate this because when you say you will, unless somethng comes up to prevent you from doing so, then keep your word. It is so important in today's world to let your yes be yes and your no be no! Thanks Darleen!! |
