A judge ruled that Beyoncé can indeed be sued for the $100 million lawsuit against her by a video game maker. This is after Beyoncé and legal team requested that the lawsuit be thrown out. The company, Gate Five LLC, feels that Beyoncé “double crossed” when she abandoned the project.
In the suit was originally filed in April, the company quoted Matthew Knowles in legal docs saying, Beyonce was “morally reprehensible” in an e-mail Matty sent to one of her talent agents after she backed out the project. Apparently, Matthew was angry that she decided to back out of the deal too. From the way the docs are worded it sounds like they maybe using it in the court preceding. With that said, maybe this was the beginning of their estrangement/cutting ties or at least part of it.
Gate Five says that her actions were a callous, of bad faith and a breach of contract. They claim she destroyed Gate Five’s business and drove 70 people into unemployment, the week before Christmas. They claim that she pulled out after making an “extortionate demand” for more money. They claim she waited the day before the financing contract was set to close to pull out of the deal. They also say she thought they would be forced to agree to her demands, but it backfired, and finance company pulled out the deal altogether. And that was all she wrote. BTW, they said something about enforcing an injunction prohibiting her from making a game with any other company. They are not playing.
The video below is of Beyonce during production of the video game in question. It looks like she was well into production when they were working with her. The game was suppose to be controlled by only body movements, not hand controllers. I have to be honest if it were me and I invested into a project like it looks like they did, I would be p*ssed too and yes I’d sue too. Those 70 people who went on the unemployment line may be next to sue.
Ultimately, It looks like Bey might be in this fight for the long haul. Whether she settles out of court or it goes to court; it’s going down. That’s just my opinion.
