The signs of the times are upon us. Now experts believe that consumer purchases will go completely paperless. Personally, I don’t think people are going to go for it. If they do, they’re going to say, give me a receipt now and also email me one. Not only that older people are set in their ways and wont want to be bothered with it. Additionally, a lot of them aren’t computer literate. Nonetheless, experts predict otherwise.
Apple is currently using a similar system. A lot of people think of Apple as the second coming, so they may have a strong following. Here’s how it will go down: The shopper will have their purchase confirmations emailed to them instead of printed. They aim to push it as as an environmentally sound. There was a lot of fuss about medical charting going paperless as well, but it went over without a hitch. Supporters believe that some countries will cut paper receipts by 60-70% within 5 years.
