Several studies have shown that CBD may help with PTSD. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder refers to a group of adverse mental, emotional, and physical symptoms that occur after a person is exposed to traumatic events. These symptoms are common among the military and civilian populations and they are associated with emotional, mental, and physical changes.
CBD is a non-psychoactive cannabinoid that is found in the stalks, flowers and seeds of cannabis plants. Although CBD has not been approved by the FDA as a therapeutic aid for PTSD, several studies have shown that the cannabinoid has therapeutic benefits for these problems. CBD has also shown its ability to reduce cognitive impairment, anxiety, and discomfort among individuals that have social phobia. That’s because it is capable of interacting with the 5-HT1A receptors in the central nervous system.

How CBD Affects Veterans With PTSD
Studies have shown that anandamide levels are essentially lower among individuals that suffer from PTSD. Anandamide refers to the inner human cannabis. As such, CBD is used to deal with the anandamide shortage among PTSD sufferers. When these receptor sites are filled up with CBD, they play a very crucial therapeutic role in PTSD therapeutic aid while relieving patients from memory problems.
Currently, several studies have shown that CBD can help in the therapeutic aid of PTSD and anxiety reduction.
These studies have revealed that CBD can do the following when used as a therapeutic aid for PTSD:
Enhance extinction learning
Block reconsolidation memory
Block mood receptors
Modulate stress hormone
Modulate pain receptors
Promote sleep hormone

Further Studies On potentially relieveing PTSD with CBD
Currently, most studies on the effectiveness on CBD as a therapeutic aid for PTSD are based on clinical trials. There are limited, published results on the actual effectiveness of CBD in improving the symptoms of PTSD in humans. Nevertheless, there was a study that was published in 2015 that shows credible results among patients that enrolled in cannabis programs in New Mexico.
The programs entailed collection of data from psychiatric evaluation of 80 PTSD patients. Researchers collected results before CBD therapeutic aid and after the therapeutic aid. The study established that there was an association of CBD with more than 75% reduction of PTSD symptoms and severity.
Currently, the Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies is conducting research on the effects of cannabis inhalation among veterans with PTSD. The University of British Columbia is also conducting another study on CBD effects on PTSD sufferers.
Considering the currently established facts and the studies that are being conducted, it’s possible that CBD will eventually become an effective and conventionally accepted therapeutic aid for PTSD in the near future. GET YOURS HERE
