We have heard, we have worked and we have believed about the concept of time management: how to use it most efficiently. This concept is actually a misnomer, for we cannot control time.
Time flows regardless of what we do. Whether we do something that will pay big or whether we do not do anything at all, time will still flow.
Hence it is rather an issue of managing ourselves, controlling our thoughts and actions to do the things that produce results.
Based on this understanding, below are four directives that are worth keeping in mind
Take advantage of five situations before their opposite occurs:
(1) To take advantage of their youth before they get old. (This means to use the forces and the energy, the brain power of young age, before one gets old)
(2) To use wisely their free time before they get too busy. (Here, the wise use of time is stressed. It is advised to avoid wasting one's time on things and activities that are useless and non beneficial)
(3) To use one's wealth properly and efficiently before getting poor. Wealth may not last for ever. It may end if one has not used it properly and wisely. Then when poverty strikes, it will a life filled with regrets.
(4) To take advantage of our state of health before we get sick (When we are in good health, our potential and ability to act are full and intact. When we are sick, our capacity is greatly reduced. Thus we should take care of ourselves and be cautious. We also should channel our energy toward useful activities)
(5) To take advantage of life before death. When we die, we will lose all opportunities to correct our mistakes
Hence we need to be focused in avoiding making mistakes and letting opportunities go without taking advantage of them.
