Our Forgetful Nature

Well, it has been two years and two months since we moved from our three bedroom house (plus full basement) into this two bedroom apartment. Beth and I spent about half a day yesterday hunting for my work boots to no avail.

We have two garages for storage. One is completely full of our possessions and one of our sons and, one is for our car and some of our possessions.

I want them as we jumped right from summer into fall just overnight as we had 90 degrees just a week ago and right now @ (3:51 pm CDT USA). Tonight's forecast is 37 degrees.

OH! Where did summer go? Hummmm!

For awhile, I was thinking about a friend of mine and his experience and if maybe I had done the same thing. Look at Jim's problem!

Jim and his wife were cleaning out the attic one day when he came across a ticket from the local shoe repair ship. The date stamped on the ticket showed it was over eleven years old. They both laughed and tried to remember which of them might have forgotten to pick up a pair of shoes over a decade ago.

"Do you think the shoes will still be in the shop?" Jim asked.
"Not very likely." his wife said.
"It's worth a try." Jim said pocketing the ticket. He went downstairs, hopped into the car and drove to the store.

With a straight face, the man said, "Just a minute. I"ll have to look for these.

He disappeared into a dark corner at the back of the shop. Two minutes later, he called out, "Here they are!"

"No kidding!" Jim called back. "That's terrific! Who would have thought they'd still be here after all this time."

The man came back to the counter, empty-handed. "They'll be ready Thursday,"  he said calmly.

Now that is service above and beyond!
