Jim Rohn, a very famous motivational speaker, gave a speech entitled “Walk Away from the 97%.” In it, he encouraged his listeners to join the 3%. He said don’t use their (the 97%) vocabulary and don’t use their excuses.
I read somewhere else about the 97/3% rule which stated that with most opportunities, there will be 3% that will see it first and move on it. Some of the 97% will realize it later and the remainder may never get it. The first movers, in many cases are the ones that make the most money. Many don’t get on board until they see proof of success.
Mr. Rohn said only 5% of people in the United States can enter retirement from their own personal resources. That means that only 5% of the population is financially independent; while the other 95% are dependent on someone else or a system for their financial survival.
I want to invite you to join me in this quest to take charge of my life, don’t be in the 95% category. It’s time to pick-up some new disciplines. Whatever disciplines may be necessary to move you to a secure future.
If it’s your health that’s holding you back, bust a move. Will you start eating right? Exercising regularly? Releasing those stressful situations in your life?
If it’s living with debts, take some steps towards a brighter financial future. Will you examine your finances? Will you prepare a budget and live by it? Will you strive to be a giver and not just a taker?
If it’s isolation, depression or loneliness--- let’s begin to change that today. Will you reach out to meet at least one new person? Will you contact an old friend and rekindle a strained relationship? Will you leave the computer for a couple of hours, take a walk in the park, go to the movies, etc.?
