Yes ... I’m a woman. I push doors that clearly say ‘Pull’. I laugh harder when I try to explain why I’m laughing. I walk into a room and forget why I was there. I count on my fingers in math’s. I hide the pain from my loved ones. I say it is a long story when it’s really not. I cry a lot more than you think I do. I care about people who don’t care about me. I try to do things before the microwave beeps. I listen to you even when you don’t listen to me. And a hug will always help. Yes ... I’m a woman.
I've read this over and there are places here where I resonate and there are places where I cringe but always there is a place where I live my integrity.
I find it impossible not to speak my truth; even when I am angry, which is not often because I question the presence of the negative moment entering my world and then I tend to banish it, detonate it and it's gone, but speaking and expressing my truth is me being true to me. I don't need pretty words to tell me who I am.
When I was no bigger than a minute, I learned that people argue, particularly about money, particularly about relationships and more particularly about blaming someone else. When I blamed someone else for a faux pas I had made, I had willingly given away my power. How many of us give away our power, willlingly or un? How many of us remain small because we want to keep the peace and the harmony flowing in our world?
Being myself and holding fast to my integrity has, I'll admit, lost me 'friends' throughout my life as I reign in on what I do, what I love to do and yet I don't look back. Those who stuck with me, who are walking beside me are the people I've come to regard as Friends and our mutual respect and gratitude for our presence in each other's lives has become a milestone we'll reach fork, after fork, after fork in our roads as we travel through life.
I remain grateful for having trodden this road toward my world where laughter, peace of mind, love, happiness and completeness is abundant.
