Self-confidence comes naturally when your inner life and your outer life are in harmony. ~ Brian Tracy
What have you achieved so far? Look inside yourself and no doubt you will find plenty to be proud of. So why haven’t you congratulated yourself? Why aren’t you patting yourself on the back and acknowledging your accomplishments.
An easy way to keep a track record of your achievements is to keep a log. Write down your daily wins no matter how insignificant they may seem to you. If you’ve de-cluttered a drawer, saved a dollar, stepped even an inch outside your own space or found that special feeling that buoys you in a place of extreme joy - you have achieved. If you have spoken to a stranger, paid someone a compliment, gone into a restaurant alone, whatever it is that is removed from your routine, then you are a step closer to your confidence. Congratulate yourself. You deserve it.
Taking each moment, each day, step by step is progress and progress is huge. How do you eat an elephant? By taking one bite at a time. How do you recover the self confidence you had when you were a child? By taking one step, no matter how small, at a time. Forming a habit takes approximately three weeks so regaining your self esteem is like forming a habit. Love who you are! You are unique. You are magnificent! You are cherished and you are secure and safe. You have a right to hold your head high. You have infinite potential to be, do and have all you require and want.
Set yourself a goal, not a massive one just something you know you can achieve. The secret is to set a goal toward something you would love to have or be or do. Loving what you do and doing what you love is the essence of self that will rebuild you from the inside out. Remember as a child, whether you were shy and reserved or really playing the real you, you were unique. You are unique and you can have that confidence that flowed through you while you were surrounded in the familiar.
Although while foreign surroundings can often mute us and our eyes become huge with inner fear of the unknown, of possible rejection or simply because of that unsustained lack of being we feel bubbling up inside us, when we dig deeper within, we can find that inner voice in that rarely visited place that says, ‘I am unique. I have a right to be here. I have the ability to be, do and have.’ While you prepare for the journey toward your self esteem make a clear and undeniable promise to yourself that you are absolutely committed to this new road and that you will do all in your power to achieve it.
It is possible you may find reasons to thwart your progress and if you do feel a degree of apprehension, push through it. Remind yourself of your own personal rights. Remind yourself that you are indeed exceptional, that there is not another soul like you and then feel the joy that sluices through your knowing. Your inner self is right there urging you to become that confident being that you are.
It has taken years to bring you to this place of lack of self esteem. If you hold tenaciously to your determination to break through the barriers, through the mind chatter and all the excuses that reverberate in your own mind space, rest assured with a little assistance from your inner child that you can go forth and be that true shining person you are hiding from right now. It takes one simple step to overcome the fear of rejection. Once that step is taken, you’re on your way. Can it ever get any better than this? You bet it can but you must take the first step. You must keep that promise to yourself that you are committed to achieve. You have the power. Use it!
