What is boredom if not the lack of purpose? When we ask ‘Who should I be?’ we are inviting the opinions of others to tell us and when we ask ‘What do I want?’ we lead ourselves into our selves to define what is ‘right’ for us. We may then be guided to ask ‘Why am I here?’
Suddenly we find we have an enormous well spring of energy and motivation. We have tapped into an infinite life force that delivers happiness in a way that no amount of money or possessions ever could.
Asking ‘What do I want?’ ultimately breeds a very empty, unfulfilled life. All possessions we may have accumulated over our life seem non-descript and when we ask why am I here? Our motivation to truly live each day as though it is our last kicks in. We feel a shift within that makes us feel we no longer need or want to satisfy our desires but rather we want to find meaning and purpose.
This quantum leap in pure consciousness can have us processing our careers, changing from what we’re doing to something we truly want to do. But asking, ‘Why am I here?’ rarely gives us the reward unless we are willing to do a little digging.
One way to turbo charge the answer to this paramount question is to make a list of all the different things you’ve wanted at different times in your life. Start in your childhood at age 12 then 18, followed by 25, 35, 45 and finally if you’re there, 55. You’ll begin to see insights as you write down all the things you wanted over the years and if you’re really in tune with your inner self, if your integrity is holding up, when you next ask yourself ‘Why am I here?’ you’ll know and then you can make the appropriate moves to achieve the dream that until now remained locked behind those heavy old doors in the chamber of your mind.
