Excite Yourself Every Day

How are you feeling today? If you feel great, wonderful. But if the feeling you have about the rest of the day makes you want to crawl back into bed, here's a question fro you: Why would you want to feel like that? What's the point?

As you scratch your head wondering how I could ask questions like that when I don't really know all the trouble in your life, relax. Everyone has challenges, no matter how carefree they may look! You're in the boat with the rest of us. The great news is you choose to feel the way you do by your thinking. Feelings stem from our thoughts and perceptions. Now don't get me wrong; if you have a negative gut feeling about someone or something, that could be a reason for caution.

No one can make you feel any particular way. They may try to influence you and might hit a soft spot, but your reaction or even lack of self-control is totally up to you. They can say or do whatever, but it's your choice as to how you respond. This sure beats reacting inappropriately and hurting a relationship. Be conscientious. Take some time to sort it out rather than saying the first thing that pops into your head. For example, you could say, "I'll let you know later. I need to think it over." The choice is yours--a result of your thinking.

If you make an unwise choice, have the humility to apologize and start again. We all make mistakes. Saying "I'm sorry" can go a long way in fixing a past error, as long as it's sincere. Not doing so has been the downfall of many, as true success is built on positive relationships.

Consider this. The instant you woke up, you probably thought about getting out of bed and what to do about breakfast. As your mind became clearer, you began thinking about what you had to do that day. You thought about what might work and what might not. Then, all of a sudden--WHAM!

You're thinking about what went wrong yesterday. Things didn't quite work out the way you expected. The next thing you knew, you were behind schedule with a deadline coming up fast. Stress levels rose as you scrambled. The more you rushed, the more things went wrong. It just wasn't your day.

But wait! That was yesterday. You survived. Why would you want to relive it? You may still have to handle some of yesterday's challenges, but nothing says you have to do it by reliving the pain and suffering.

Why not start by being excited about solving these issues, once and for all, preventing their future occurrences? Know that you're the one who can resolve these situations--alone or with help--and you and others will be better off. Giving yesterday's problems a foothold on today is a formula for failure. Eradicate them. You have a brand new day in front of you, filled with possibilities. Use it well. Make it count!
