Marketing today on the Internet has to be much more subtle than pitching your business. Consumers are being bombarded by "Amazing Opportunities" every day and are wary of people coming to them with a sales pitch. That is why 97% of Network Marketers make very little out of their business. People are looking to make extra money and they may fall for some slick sales pitch, but unless they are seasoned salespeople themselves they will get despondent and do little or nothing with their business. They will Probably say to themselves that it was the business not them that was at fault. Even though others are making money in the same business.
The problem is that few “Salespeople” are able to train others to do what they are doing. Anyone they recruit unless they are themselves sales people is doomed to failure. The average person if left to his or her own devices will not have a clue where to start. In my early days I was told to tell all my friends and family about my business and they would be eager to get involved and help me build my business.
So eager as I was to get started I quickly found that friends were avoiding me because they were fed up of hearing about the business. The advice from my Up-line was very helpful, get some flyers and put them on every car you see parked and hand a leaflet to anyone who comes within 3 feet of you. Guess what happened? Absolutely nothing! Back to my sponsor, the advice, buy some tapes and leaflets and start a postal campaign.
I did make some product sales and recruited a couple of people who joined just to get the products at a discount, but nothing to make me think that I was close to making the breakthrough that my sponsor said should happen. So with a much slimmer bank account it was off to find another “couldn’t fail” opportunity.
The thing that all this taught me was that there are no “Get Rich Overnight” opportunities, and any business that will give a long term income needs a plan that can be followed by anyone and a simple method of working it. I now focus on a couple of programs that are designed to produce measurable and predictable results by following a plan that can be adapted to fit different circumstances.
They do not involve recruiting of others as the mainstay of the earning power and although the mathematics of the programs is complex the application of it is simple. The results are seen as you work the program and earnings grow over time to produce a good solid income. Working the systems takes very little time and the bulk of my time is spent on helping others to realize their own worth and teaching them how to get the best from their own efforts.
