Facebook users are upset once again. More changes, more updates…all intended to increase revenue for Facebook and create a less “social” atmosphere for the Facebook users. I suppose that new reports of folks saying they have had enough will continue to surface on a regular basis. In June, I posted the news at www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-2003131/Facebook-100k-Brits-bored-site-deactivate-accounts-amid-privacy-fears.html Considering the big push Facebook products have going on against the IM world –certain facts rise to the top: It is reporting that people are leaving Facebook in droves (hundreds of thousands to millions) due to Facebook fatigue, changes, limits, and privacy scares.
1. 100,000 Brits deactivated their Facebook account last month.
2. 6,000,000 U.S. logged off Facebook for good.
3. 1,500,000 Canadians logged off Facebook for good.
4. Facebook worldwide growth has slowed for 2nd month in a row.
5. Facebook now relying on developing countries.
6. Facebook only growth in Mexico and Brazil.
So, is Facebook dying out like MySpace or is it a viable opportunity for internet marketing? It is not only Facebook – but many social sites who are confused about the viral nature of their sites and the purpose they serve in the IM community. By making it difficult to meet others within a social network – many social sites are creating an anti-social atmosphere. If you can’t friend someone, send messages, and have an actual conversation, and get to know another…how are you suppose to benefit from the relationship?
Yes, I know people complain about spammers…warn them or delete them…no big deal. Get over yourself – times are changing and the IM community itself has pushed back on those who act inappropriately by not adding value to the conversation.
I found shitloadofmoneysite.com to be an excellent resource for those who are serious about internet marketing. The content is always current and provides step by step information on how to maneuver the “social networks.” Feel free to check it out for yourself.
