Happy People Are Happy Givers!

Happy People Are Happy Givers! Fact -- According to the Social Capital Community Benchmark Survey, givers are happier people than non-givers. In a survey of 30,000 American households, Social Capital found that people who gave money to charity in 2000 were 43% more likely than non-givers to say they were "very happy" about their lives. I couldn’t agree more. Months before becoming part of 2010 Blessings (Cash Gifting Community), I became compelled to give more. Not sure if it was because of the personal development I began listening too, or maybe the books I’ve come to read and love. But giving is a true blessing…and these blessings come back to you infinitely. I was brought up in a household where when we outgrew our clothes, there were to be donated to those either less fortunate or to friends who were our age. Since then, I have continued to give EVERY season when I do my closet cleansing. Doing my part in giving and/or sharing blessings during the Hurricane Katrina relief effort, it was my pleasure to donate bedding, blankets, pillows, coats, jackets, etc. and even make a monetary donation to my local City Representative’s office. It was important that I contribute to those who had suffered so much. Happy people are also volunteers too! Additionally, more studies show that 42% of people are more likely to be very happy as a volunteer than non-volunteers; regardless of whether these folks offer gifts of money and/or time. I’m also not surprised that these givers are comprised various religious backgrounds. Why do you ask? It’s because the World is Full of Happy Givers! Who doesn’t feel some level of happiness when you give? Researchers found through experiments that when people are interviewed regarding their happiness before and after — sometimes long after — they participate in a charitable activity, such as volunteering to help children or serving meals to the poor. The results clearly indicate giving has a strong, positive causal impact on our happiness. You have the stats, so now let’s individually and collectively continue to bless others --knowing it is the Key to our Happiness! Indira Wilburn (267) 297-1557 www.ibourl.net/SharingManyBlessings
