This time next year we will have the benefit of hindsight to help us determine how well our choices and actions worked out. Putting ourselves into position now and being action oriented in the early part of the new year can make a huge difference.
A dynamic shift is occurring in the world economy. History has witnessed and recorded major economic model shifts before. We have seen the transition from an agrarian society to the industrial revolution and then the shift to an information/services based economy. NOW we are seeing the emergence of the Social Business based economy.
We see glimpses of this newest dynamic shift in the world economic model in the ways that people are using social media platforms to effect political reforms. With just as much impact, we are seeing a move away from a supply based system where "demand" for products/services are created via advertising campaigns to more of a ground swell from consumers dictating their preferences by connecting and combining group buying power through things like LivingSocial, Groupon, MetroCityClub, CustomerAdvantage and a host of others.
Vibrant networking is now possible. We can create connection that blur the lines between the supplier and the consumer in that we can play a significant role in BOTH portions of that age old equation. Often these days when I find a product/service that I truly benefit from I am quick to see if there is an affiliate program available ... and often as not, there IS! Then I quickly check to see if anyone I already know/like/trust is connected with the program; if I can find someone that I already have a relationship established as a reputable online marketer then I make my connection through that person. Since more and more of the products/services I utilize are available online, this is now my standard way of handling my personal consumption of products/services.
Not too long ago we would have subscriptions to national magazines, newspapers, wholesale clubs and trade association dues. Now I am more likely to have an autoship or a subscription to a digital product/service provider that shares revenue through an affiliate compensation plan.
I would rather have an autoship than an auto payment! No, they are not mutually exclusive, yet a great many people select the vehicle they drive at least in part based on work requirements. And the related expenses of maintenance, fuel, insurance and maybe even parking expenses can often add up to a much bigger "cost of doing business" than an online source of income!
Imagine a world where networks of people supported each other economically by making the affiliate referral component one of the most important considerations of selecting a product/service ... welcome to the NEW world economic model! Social Business is not another version of business as usual, it empowers the individual in ways that were not practical before the emergence of the internet.
Oh, one more historical note as we participate in the shaping of this new world economy, the EARLY ADOPTERS are often in position to benefit from the wave created by the masses that follow the trends. It takes timing, insight, vision (and some degree of good fortune) to be in the right place at the right time, yet even those that have all of those ingredients in place will not necessarily benefit if there is a lack of action orientation ... I have heard it said that "... you can be on the right road to success and STILL be run over if you are just standing there!"
Of the now seven (7) billion folks that we share this planet, there are currently about two (2) billion that already have online access. That percentage is only going to get larger! ALL of those folks access the internet via a web browser. Imagine monetizing the web browsers that are being used. Well, you CAN with the introduction of the HomePagePays program!
