Avocation Versus Vocation

What a difference that "a" makes between avocation versus vocation.

  1. a hobby or minor occupation.
  2. _____________________________________
A great many people turn to the internet in hopes of earning money online and somewhere along the way their efforts can really only be defined as an avocation.
Very likely their intent is to make a vocation of their efforts.
  1. a strong feeling of suitability for a particular career or occupation.
"not all of us have a vocation to be nurses or doctors"
synonyms: calling, life's work, mission, purpose, function; More
    • a person's employment or main occupation, especially regarded as particularly worthy and requiring great dedication.
      "her vocation as a poet"
    • a trade or profession.
A hobby is something that we usually spend money doing, and while we hopefully enjoy the activity there is very likely no net profit derived from it.
By contrast work that qualifies to be defined as a vocation often is much more business like in its substance; and a business is intended to make a profit.  Those that approach working online with a professional mindset are much more likely to succeed financially from their efforts.
If you were receiving a salary from an employer for doing things the way you are currently going about it would your supervisor give you a good performance review?
Yes, it is true, that many of us choose to work online (at least in part) so that we do not have to placate an employer.  Yet those that are professional work at home business builders usually take on the mindset that we are our own boss and self-manage our activities and results accordingly.  So, would you give yourself a positive performance review?
While many of us do NOT want a boss involved in our daily lives, we CAN benefit from collaborative efforts with others that can provide us with a sense of urgency and accountability to others for achieving desired results. I enjoy work with team members to help each other in our efforts to move toward our individual goals more rapidly because of our combined efforts providing synergistic results.
We might not get to the place where we share common ground in the sense that we share a primary program as our source of earning income, yet if I can ever provide you any assistance in your efforts to reach your goals and dreams then let me know.
May others view what you do as a professional working in a vocation so that you can achieve your financial goals and dreams as quickly as possible.  All the best to you.
