The Power Of Purposeful Habits

The power of purposeful habits can help us achieve out goals.

Let me take a quick moment to thank each of you that are reading this ... you are greatly appreciated!

My daily routines are about the only thing I can share as the reason for my occasional selection as FMOTD.  Of course, I enjoy the time I devote to the IBOtoolbox community.  Many of you have become friends.  This is one of the few online communities where it is actually possible to get to know other active members in a way that leads to knowing, liking and trusting each other ... sometimes providing the common ground for supporting each others efforts and possibly even collaboration.

I am conscious in my efforts to devote some of my time each day to the IBOtoolbox community.  Because it is an intentionally developed habit I find that on those rare days when I cannot spend time in this community that I truly miss the camaraderie.

The Slight Edge by Jeff Olson is one of my favorite books because it shares the simple, yet powerful, wisdom that taking the steps that lead to successful outcomes is easy to do; but that it is also easy NOT to do.  By consciously determining the steps we take on a daily  basis we move in a general direction.  We CAN choose that direction.  Many people have abdicated that choice to others; maybe an employer, or a spouse, or a parent, etc.  While many of these influences in our lives ARE important, we should remain responsible for our own actions.

A friend and mentor, Don LaPlume, share a couple of resources the other day that I would like to make available to you too.  The first is the website, The Power Of Habit, in which Charles Dugigg provides information on transforming habits.  The second is an app called Coach.me (Lift), and I believe it is available in both the App Store as well as the Play Store.

May you purposefully develop and maintain habits that will empower you to accomplish your dreams and goals!
