ICE’ing your phone programs a contact number into your cell phone for “In Case of Emergency” situations. This allows first responders to be able to contact your responsible person for notification purposes when you have been the victim of an accident of some kind. ICE stands for “In Case of Emergency” 1 Simply put ICE in front of the name of your contact person. 2 Make sure the contact person has agreed to be your ICE contact. 3 Give the ICE contact a list of people they should contact on our behalf such as Doctors, or family member. 4 Make sure that your ICE contact is someone who can easily be reached… listing a work or cell phone number is best. 5 Be sure to tell your ICE contact about any medical conditions that could affect your emergency medical treatment….alergies,medications,ect. 6 If you are under 18 make sure your ICE contact is a parent or guardian. 7 If you ICE contact is deaf or hard of hearing be sure to put ICETEXT in front of their name. 8 If your ICE contact is is a duplicate entry place an asteric * after ICE to prevent duplicate problems.
ICE’ing your phone is the best way to ensure that the right people are notified ICE.
