Although all companies understand how important marketing is, they may not all use marketing tools effectively to increase profits. One very effective marketing tool that can be neglected is a well-designed email marketing campaign. This article contains some tips and advice to help you better utilize the power of email to market your business.

You should generate one crystal-clear message for every email that you send. Keep the content down to a digestible amount of material. Throwing too much at a customer will overwhelm them. Think of what your message is, and say it clearly and simply. In the end, your customers will be thankful for being given the information in a concise and organized manner.

In order to promote excitement in your customers regarding receiving emails, offer them special discounts or limited promotions in your newsletters. When you send these kinds of newsletters, not only will your readers enjoy participating, they might refer their friends. You can promote this even further by creating a referral rewards plan, which will not only increase the number of subscribers to your newsletter, but also your pool of potential buyers.

Do not ever send unsolicited emails to unsuspecting customers. Sending out unwanted marketing emails to individuals who don't want them will get your email marketing messages marked as spam. Along with getting a bad reputation, you might find that your IP address gets blocked by certain ISPs if they get too many complaints.

Utilize A/B testing to determine the most effective type of subject line. Split your mailing list into two groups and mail one email with one subject line to one group and another to the other group. This strategy will show which subjects customers open, and which get ignored and sent to trash.

Keep in mind that the point of marketing, through email, is sales. This means that all of the emails are just steps towards a reader purchasing from you. You could do this by making an email that highlights information about a new product, promotes an older product or offers a special deal.

Do not ever send emails to your customers more than one time per week. Your customers are busy and don't want to be bombarded by too many messages. If you send too many emails, people will skip over them, and you won't reap the benefit of your hard work.

Offer a coupon to customers who sign up for your marketing email list. Put a form on your website where customers can sign up and set the form to email automatically new customers a coupon when they submit the form. This encourages customers to agree to allow you to send them marketing materials so that you won't be accused of sending out spam.

Don't send important information out around a major holiday. People are normally not at work and are not spending time at their computers, so most likely they will not see your emails. Of course, you can take advantage of certain exceptions. These may include emails concerning Black Friday deals or other campaigns based on occasions.

A well-run email marketing campaign can greatly improve the efficacy of your overall marketing machine. Use it as a way of building a relationships with your customers and target audience. Make good use of the tips above and you should quickly see results.
