Here we are, in the middle of summer during extreme temperatures, in the 100s even. Plenty of people have died in the summer, due to heat related death. This heat can be dangerous, pending on how you tackle it. Here, I have a list of do's and don'ts.
First, let's start with the Do's!
1. When outside, you should try to keep bottled water or some type of fresh, cold liquid. Try to stay away from sugary products when outside, such as Soda or any kind of caffeine drink. As your body soaks up the liquid of sugary products faster than purified water. If you don't do this, your body will start to dehydrate and possibly die from it.
2. If you start to feel light headed, try to seek an area that is much cooler than the outside temperature and wait there until you feel better. If you don't do this you probably will pass out. If you're by yourself, there is a chance that nobody will drag you to safety.
3. Travel in groups. When using energy outside in the extreme temperature it is best to have some people with you. In case you start to feel sick. As your friends or family will help you to safety. Whereas being alone in the heat, no body will help you.
4. If you haven't already, try to install fans, or air conditioners, and tend to keep them on for as long as you're in the house. Also, keep windows and doors shut, if you have the air conditioner on. Otherwise, you're just wasting money.
5. When outside, you should try to eat cold foods, such as Ice cream, milkshakes, etc. As this helps cool down your body temperature a bit, keeping you cold and away from hot temperatures a little bit more.
Now, in to the Don'ts!
1. Don't stay outside longer than you have to. As staying outside will make you sweat, and as you may know, sweating a lot will dehydrate your body.
2. Don't wear heavy clothing, or more clothing than you have to (obiviously). As wearing more than you have to will also make you sweat and dehydrate more. Just keep it sweet and simple. T-Shirt, Undergarments, Shorts, and Shoes/Flip Flops/Sandals.
3. Don't wear Dark clothing. As heat is attracted to dark colors, such as black, brown, dark gray, etc. I'm not exactly sure on why this is, but all I know is that it is true. If you do this, you could get bad sunburn, pending on how long you're outside.
4. Don't wear Tight clothing. If you wear tight clothing your body is cut off to any air that flows in the heat, thus making you sweat and dehydrate. If you wear baggy clothing any air will flow through your clothes, cooling you off.
This concludes the Do's and Don'ts of the summer. I hope you follow these suggestions well and have a great summer. This has been the guest writer, Hayden Meyers.

 | | great advice Hayden, thank you for sharing such valuable information, keep up the awesome work! |
| | | | | I would also add one more great big don't. If you are going somewhere where you could be tied for along while, and pets and children are not allowed. leave the children at home with a babysitter and leave your pets in the airconditioned house. Don't leave them in the hot vehicle for any kind of time at all. Just saying |
| | | | | Thanks for the info Dawn, been in the 100's for 5 days straight in PA. |
