"Most small business owners are aware, or should be, that with bigger and brighter screens, faster broadband wireless, more mobile friendly mini sites and the widespread use of apps, transactions from Smartphones accelerated to 60% in 2015 for top retailers."

In 2016, we are already at the point where 60% of internet traffic originates from Smartphones. Cisco’s Smart Tank predicts that by 2018 that figure will be 90%!!

If that last sentence got your attention, as a small business owner, you are already asking three questions”

  • Is it really that important to have an app for my business?
  • Is it worth the investment to have an app designed for my business?
  • Why not wait for the price to come down?

What you should be asking is:

  • Is it really that important to my current customers that my business has an app? And how important is having that app to my potential customers? And why?
  • What will be my (ROI) Return of Investment?
  • What will or could the impact be on my business if I wait for the price to come down?

Let’s talk about why apps are so popular and why customers prefer them.

The use of Smartphones is spreading not only here in the states, but is sweeping across the globe. Demographically the biggest growth is occurring in the age group over 65.

  • Apps have eliminated barriers for the customer such as the number of clicks, giving more options for payment and the ease of payment.
  • Apps are convenient and that is what your customers want period.
  • They no longer have to do a search; they no longer have to skim thru contacts.
  • They just simply tap on the app and the information needed is there.

Return of Investment (ROI)

Most of us are aware of the growing need to include mobile marketing and the need for apps, but are still not sure how it all works. We have no idea what the actual benefits are to having an app. We’re not sure as to how to get the most out of mobile marketing. And, then there is the cost factor to consider when having to have an app designed for your business.

We already have companies moving in to take advantage of what we do not know or understand. Just as they did with the websites, they are overcharging and demanding contracts. If you have been shopping around, you are seeing the evidence of this happening too. So, beware!

On the other side of the coin, there are the free apps. Good perhaps for a quick fix, but you are going to be very limited on the design. They are all cookie cutter apps and if you want to stand out or brand yourself, it just is not going to happen. Here again, you will be tempted to upgrade.

There are some low cost apps out there that you can customize easily. You can get a no contract service. Some even offer you a QR where the customer can just scan. The most important thing is to compare and know what you are getting. What you think may be a good price, may end not being what you want. Or they could tack on a price for extras that you need.

Waiting For That Price To Drop

The price is already coming down. If you take the necessary time to compare, you can find the right plan at the right price with no contract.

Some of you are already aware that Wanda Robinson, an associate here at IBO and I have signed up with a company that we personally use for our business and as distributors of the app as well.

Our plan is $14.95 a month

  • With no contract.
  • Includes unlimited text and push messaging available worldwide 24/7
  • Customizable in minutes, change it easily
  • A QR Code
  • Mini Site
  • Add audio or video

And a whole lot more.

On the next post, we will take a look at the benefits of having an app for your business.

In conclusion, what’s coming is that very soon mobile apps will be a standard feature for all business. And it is entirely up to you whether or not your business is going to be a part of the mobile revolution that is occurring right now. You can be the first, or your competition can outsmart you.
