"The purpose of a business is to create a customer who creates customers"

Shiv Singh

A Brief History

At the beginning of their creation, the QR Code or Quick Response Code was mainly used in Japan. Originally designed by the Toyota Motor Corporation in 1994, the QR Code was used to identify vehicle parts during the manufacturing process.  The QR Code also enabled Toyota to quickly verify that all automobile parts were in their correct location.

Discovering in the early 1990’s that the barcode system that they were using to track parts was running out of capacity. Also realizing that very shortly they would exceed the maximum number of items they could put on a standard barcode. Their development of the QR Code solved those problems and they now could store more data and more importantly different types of data.

Standard barcodes are intended for the use of managing and tracking inventory in a retail setting. They can track inventory sold and even returned. They are also a convenience to the retail customer because the process of checking out is much faster. QR Codes are much more advanced because of the vast information that can be stored on them and because of the endless creative ways they can be used.

Now QR Codes are being used for marketing and advertising purposes. With the advancement of the Smartphone user, QR Codes are making an impact on how business is putting their information out to those users. The advantage of using a QR Code is that they can be any size and can be placed almost anywhere.

The Benefits

When a QR code is scanned onto a Smartphone, whatever information that was put on to the code is instantly presented to the Smartphone user. No more typing of information about your business is needed. You can put all of your contact information on the QR Code so that it can now be easily accessed.

You can present the user with additional information about the product, store or person. Sale information, coupons or give a ways.  Use QR Codes to drive traffic to your blogs or to your websites. Get creative. The opportunities are endless. Best of all you can create them and as often as needed free on my QR Code website. And you will find that they are good quality QR Codes.

The Real Benefit

Some Smartphones users will need to download a QR Code reader. On the website I provide this information. I recommend that you copy it and make it available to your Smartphone user. It is free to download the readers. You can save the customer time from going through thousands of QR Code readers. They can then scan or download the reader right there on the spot. Scan your information before they leave your store, your website or your blog.

Now every time they run across the opportunity to quickly scan a QR Code … and they will … who do you think they will remember? How many people will they tell about the experience? How much did it cost you?

Sometimes FREE is a blessing in disguise.

Don't have a QR Code Scanner on your smartphone yet?

There are many QR code scanners available in the App marketplaces for your particular smartphone. ...But we've put together a list of ones that work well on different smartphone platforms. Access to this information is also listed on the website and takes only seconds. The information will save you time from looking for what you need.
