It does not matter what type of business you have - large or small, online or offline … all business needs digital in their marketing strategy. You can cry all you want to about it, but to survive in today's global and local economy - digital is a must have.

Simply put, the Smartphone has had a much bigger impact globally than the internet itself. At the end of 2015, ICT Facts and Figures, reported “3.2 billion were using the internet. With 2 billion in developing countries.”

“But the global mobile broadband market was highly dynamic, with a market penetration increase of 12 times since 2007.”

ICT Fact and Figures

2016 Was A Seesaw

Of continuous change when the Smartphone tumbled into the the tech arena , declaring itself the King of Digital, That in itself was no surprise, it was the way the rules of engagement suddenly changed that knocked the wind out of most of us..

Destined to always be in second place, not far behind, was social media declaring itself the Prince of Tides. With Facebook being larger than China, who was going to argue?

Already a powerful force in the digital world, the two of them lined up, then reshaped and locked in on a movement that the world has never before witnessed.

“Overnight, at a staggering rate, the world had gone mobile.”

The winds of change had arrived

“In 2016, most of us were essentially carrying around a supercomputer in our pockets”

While mobile devices have been around for awhile, the surge began 10 years ago in 2007 with the introduction of the iphone. Since the dawn of the Smartphone, it has changed the way we

  • Live, communicate, work and the way we play.
  • Business rules have been stripped as the consumer demanded more engagement, reviews be acknowledged and their questions answered within hours.
  • Shopping online became more convenient and checkouts became much faster. 24 hour access to services and products became more visible
  • Business to business became mobilized. Time has no real importance anymore. The world works literally 24 hours a day
  • Take a video, a picture. See a movie. How about directions to that restaurant? Do you need a flashlight?

A survey conducted by the Bank of America,

“They couldn’t last a day without their smartphones.”

  • 91% say that their smartphone is very important
  • 60% it is even more important than coffee.

For 96% of Millennials (people aged 18-24) the smartphone is very important

  • For 93% it is definitely more important than deodorant
  • 94% more than the toothbrush.

We check our mobile devices every 6.5 minutes

Digital and the Smartphone are here to stay.

While the technology aspect of it all may change often, especially in the next few years, the world may yet become an easier place to navigate because of it.

By keeping up with the trends that are affecting your business and industry, and it only takes a few moments to do so, you can drive through what is  coming at you with your top rolled down on the car.

So what is the best way to reach people?

Through their mobile devices.

Does it mean that your company needs to be mobile friendly?

Absolutely, positively yes.

Thank you for stopping by!
