Why Is Failure an Event and not a Person?

failure, failure is an event not a person, the importance of failure

Remember that failure is an event, not a person.” Zig Ziglar

Most times we look at failure as a person rather than an event. It is an event that has happened and is over, but we treat it as a person and makes it live on. Remember that no matter how many times you do not succeed in any pursuit in life, you are not a failure. Indeed, “You cannot be a failure for failure is an event – never a person!” Dr. William D Brown wrote in a 1978 newspaper column.

Furthermore, failure is an attitude not an outcome. It is a temporary inconvenience or a stepping stone. Consequently, our response to failure determines how helpful it can be in our lives.

Often times, too many people fear of “being a failure” has prevented them from facing challenges in their lives because they are afraid that they will not be able to meet the challenges. However, it is important that we remember, that it does not matter how many times we encounter failure we ought to retain our personal dignity and self-worth because failure should not define us. It is an event not a person.

Moreover, failure is a vital factor in achieving success. It is in failing sometimes that we get the critical experience needed to achieve success. “You always pass failure on your way to success.” Mickey Rooney. “Successful people don't fear failure but understand that it's necessary to learn and grow from.” Robert Kiyosaki. Remember, “Never let success get to your head, never let failure get to your heart.” Anonymous.
