Why You Need Multiple Email Accounts.
Note: This is the 5th in the “GetStarted” Sequence. In this Press Release we will discuss why you need multiple email accounts.
If you are like me, you started out with one personal email account. It probably contains your name and some numbers or something amusing that worked for you at the time you created it. If you continue to pursue online marketing, it is likely that you will be deluged by a flood of emails. Some you requested, (You should note those you expect.) and some from the Spammers.
*Note: Every email should have a way to Unsubscribe. Remember this if you are planning to send emails. Unfortunately, many do not or their Unsubscribe Link is not real. Needless to say, you will probably want to put these people on the list of those you do not want to do business with.*
The nature of Social Media is another reason why you need multiple email accounts. As you interact with the networks, many of them generate email alerts. Some you will want to turn off. Others you will want to adjust the settings.
*IBO Tip: The default for IBO Toolbox is to receive email alerts for; Newsletters, associate Messages, PR Notifications, Video Notifications and Comment Notifications.
The global settings are under SITE NAVIGATION – EDIT ACCOUNT. You can also choose to set these for each individual Associate in their Member Viewer under Notifications. With a multitude of associates, it is easy to see how an email account could be overwhelmed. For this reason, I suggest that you dedicate an email account to IBO Toolbox.
One approach is to leave the Notifications turned on for your Valued Associates and New Associates while turning them off for others on a case by case basis. Of course this would be easiest with a strategy in place at the beginning of your IBO Toolbox adventure.
Different email providers give you access to different networks:
Everyone should have a Gmail account for access to the many related Google services. Well beyond Google Search, I use Google Analytics and Webmaster tools on a daily basis to see what is going on with my website, Nove-Noga.
Yahoo has a very thorough opening page with direct links to a wide range of links to information and entertainment as well as a direct link to Flickr. Flickr is a great resource for images. They utilize the Creative Commons licensing options to indicate which images may be shared or used and under what rules. Ymail and Rocketmail are both parts of Yahoo although they are not allowing new users under these networks at this time. Yahoo search is one of the big three search engines.
MSN has Outlook.com and Hotmail.com, giving you two more email resources. The MSN homehome page also has access to a wide variety of news and entertainment. There are direct connections that you can setup for your Facebook and Twitter Feeds and of course there is the Bing Search engine. *Note: You might want one of these for your IBO Toolbox account.*
Many of the Internet service providers also have email addresses that you can use. Check with your service provider to determine your options and benefits.
Each service works in different ways:
Google has the advantage of making it easy to add your email senders to your Circles and Contacts. I use it as the email account for AdViralizer and my Free Opportunities so that new prospects can be easily added to my Google contacts and circles.
I use my Yahoo account for IBO Toolbox and a few other accounts. As mentioned before, the IBO Toolbox system can generate high numbers of emails. Be sure to set your filters according to your needs.
I use a Hotmail account for most of my other Social Networks. A relatively new feature allows you to have the emails from specified senders sent straight to your folders. It makes it easier to review when necessary and minimizes the handling of the generated emails.
Each of these three primary email providers also has some form of Profile Page that you can set up. The most important of these is your Google pages but anyplace that you can set up your profile is important for building your Brand Identity and establishing a reputation for transparency on the web. With all the information available, transparency and honesty is the only way to go.
Consider having six or more Social Networks, multiple advertising venues and a multitude of emails from your various opt-ins for information and products, and you begin to see why you need multiple email accounts. By planning ahead you will be able to organize and control the flow of information generated by your efforts on the internet. Nothing Ventured – Nothing Gained: Nove-Noga!
