Graphics for Your Needs:
You may be thinking, what do I need Graphics for? I just want to sell (insert product here). My questions would be: Does your company supply all the graphics for your needs; How many Social Networks are you using; and How are you presenting your Personal Branding efforts?
Start With IBO Toolbox:
For your Profile Image, you need a personal image, preferably of yourself in a professional representation. I can hear some of you now. “But I love my Logo.” And I can understand it. But, until people associate your Logo with You, you are building Identification of your Logo. I hate to ask but, what if you and your company part ways?
Personal Branding is not about getting someone to buy a product. It is about building personal relationships based on mutual interest. You are spending your time and energy building recognition. Do you want to give that up or give it away if something in your situation changes?
Some of you just looked up to my Profile image with Nove-Noga all over it. What you may not realize; that is the same Image that I have been using since my first day on IBO Toolbox. I have been developing Nove-Noga since the beginning. After I created my first banner, I decided to take it one step further and add the Logo to my Profile image.
A *Free Graphic Design Program:
You can do the same thing if you want. The graphic design program that I use for everything is the *Free GIMP. (GNU Image Manipulation Program) For a link to the program, examples of my efforts and Click-by-Click Instructions, see the GIMP Tutorials on the Nove-Noga website. GIMP is a very powerful tool. It can be intimidating until you get used to it. It helps to have a Click-by-Click guide.
*Free Means Free!
I use GIMP to Resize my Images and to easily add text to them. If you have existing images, it is possible to combine them for new purposes. See the Cover Page for my Facebook Fan Page Nove.NogaOnIBOtoolbox. I used the Image elements provided for our use by IBO Toolbox to create a Cover Image for the page I created to take advantage of the new Facebook Connectivity.
There are three basic Image Types, two static and one active (animated). You can create all three types with the GIMP Export function after you have created your Image.
JPEG is named for “Joint Photographic Experts Group” to refer to a specific Image File Format designated by the file extension .jpeg or .jpg and usually pronounced Jay-Peg.
PNG is the acronym for “Portable Network Graphics”; a different Image File Format designated by the file extension .png and usually pronounced Ping.
GIF is pronounced Jif like the peanut butter, because “Choosy programmers choose GIF”. The quote is attributed to the creators of the GIF (Graphics Interchange Format) which is used for our animated projects. The GIF Image File Format is designated by the .gif extension.
Upload or Host:
All Images on the Internet are Hosted on servers somewhere. The images that you use will be uploaded from your device or referenced by the Image URL for a Hosted Image. For example: The IBO Toolbox Profile Image is Uploaded from your device and hosted by IBO Toolbox to be used in a variety of formats (sizes); The images for your Press Release and Front Page have to be Hosted before they can be used.
If you have your own website, you can upload them to your server. The URL will be something like http://www.Nove-Noga.com/Images/MyPicture.jpg. If you don’t have your own website, you might want to check out the *Free Image Hosting Service, ImgBox.com. It is fairly easy. (It helps to know a little HTML) Remember to keep a copy of the code for your new Image. For a GIF it will resemble, http://i.imgbox.com/oSKreIzU.png *Note: The “i” at the beginning of the URL indicate that it is the Image you will actually use.*
*Free Means Free!
Social Media Marketing Strategy:
Part of your social media marketing strategy will be deciding how you are going to present yourself across the different Social Media. This is all part of Building your Brand. You are building your Brand Identity with every post and every image. It is difficult to erase mistakes from the Internet so it is better to come up with a plan as early as possible.
*NB: From the day I selected Nove-Noga as a Domain, I had Certain Ideas in mind. See the FavIcon at the top of this PR. See the shape of the words in my Graphics and see the colors I have chosen. I may be wrong but I am not uncertain. Nove-Noga!*
Consider your colors and images. Do you have a Logo and does it lend itself to different formats? Will you be using a Static Presentation (Changing seldom if ever.) or will you be using an Active Presentation? There are arguments for both strategies and I know successful people using each strategy in their own way. Nothing has to be set in stone but you are better off having these parts of your social media marketing strategy in place before you actually start your marketing.
In consideration of your social media marketing strategy, you need to know what Graphics will be required in different venues.
*Note: The standard unit for Images is Pixels (Picture Elements) abbreviated, px.*

For Facebook Timeline Graphics:
The recommended size for Facebook Timeline Graphics is 504x504. I have noticed some discrepancies in the way a 504x504 image is displayed. Any comments on this subject would be appreciated.
When planning the graphics for your needs there is a lot to consider. What images and designs do you already have to work with? Will you be able to create your own social media graphics or will you need to hire it out? One argument for doing it for yourself is creative control and changes. The advantages of purchased graphics are a different point of view and resources. Take some time to put some Ideas in writing. Do you have any Artistic friends willing to help you out?
Whatever you do, don’t stop now. If you have been following this series, we have worked our way up to this point in days to achieve what I took months to learn and apply. Anything worth doing takes time, effort and inspiration. Nothing Ventured – Nothing Gained: Nove-Noga!
