SevenOaksArtHave You Claimed Your Public Figure Fan Page:
“Everyone” knows that if you are going to be doing business on Facebook, you must have a Fan Page. (Crickets?) Well, it is true. Facebook is fairly serious on the subject. Some of the most interesting pages that I have seen are the “Public Figure” pages. Have you claimed your “Public Figure” Fan Page yet?

A Question for Every Answer:
I wasn’t really ready to create another Fan Page. But, there was this question. Is there a minimum number of Likes before you can claim your custom URL for your Facebook Fan Page? I can now assure our readers that there is no minimum like requirement. In fact, you are encouraged to claim your custom URL (Facebook Web Address) in the setup process.

Your Fan Page and IBO Toolbox:
If you want your Facebook Fan Page to display properly at IBO Toolbox, it must be the target of the First Facebook Icon in your IBO Social Networks. It must also have a custom URL (Facebook Web Address).

Why is Your IBO Fan Page Link in Error Mode

Example - Facebook Generated Web Address:

Example – Custom URL (Facebook Web Address):
https://www.facebook.com/CurtissMartinNoveNoga

Setting Up for a New Fan Page:
For any Fan Page, you are going to need a Profile Image (180x180) and a Cover Photo (851x315). You are also going to need a Short Description. This is a 155 Character statement that will Identify your page in the About Section, Messenger and other places. A website link and your preferred Custom Facebook URL are also a good Idea.

Short Description – First Pass:
I am Curtiss Martin. No, not the football player. I am the one dedicated to Free Tools and Opportunities. Follow this page to see what I support and share.

Short Description – Second Pass:
Nove-Noga! I’m Curtiss Martin. No, not the football player. I am the one dedicated to Free Tools and Opportunities. Follow to see what I support and share.

Make Your Short Description Start Strong:
As soon as the page was up, I sent the link to the Artist that created the Original Artwork for the Cover Photo. All I could see of the short description was “I am Curtiss M…” This didn’t start strong. So I fell back to my Standby, Nove-Noga!

The Page has now been created:

*Note: This URL must be changed to the Custom URL if it is in the First Facebook Page Link at IBO Toolbox.

Invite your Friends. The first goal is 50 Page likes. [Next]
*Note: I advise waiting on your invitations so that you have something for your Friends to See.
Suggest Page to Email Contacts: Upload your email contacts. If they are on Facebook, they will be more likely to see suggestions to like your page. (Under 3 dots on cover page buttons) [Next]

After all that, your page is active and you are on your own.
*-*-*-*-* End Fan Page Setup *-*-*-*-*

Preferred Page Audience:
My previous pages have all been Community Pages due to the ease of set up. The Public Figure Page allows us to set some parameters for our preferred audience. You can edit the Preferred Page Audience for your Public Figure page in Settings – Preferred Audience. The Public Figure Page also allows for more information to be shared in the about button.

Housekeeping:
Your page has just been created. Your Profile Picture is in place but there is no description. You need a cover photo. There are a few changes to page that you might want to make.

Profile Picture:
Click your Profile Picture. Add a description. Tag yourself in. Add location.
I started with the same info I put into the About and website.

Cover Photo:
Upload Cover Photo. 851x315
Add a Description. Tag yourself in? Add Location? Artist Creds?

Changes in Settings:
Settings – General – Tagging Ability – From Page Managers to Everyone.
Settings – Notification – Email – Notification Off. (Unless you want a lot email.)

*Note: You can Like other Pages as Your Page. In Facebook Settings (Top Right Menu Bar [chevron]) – Use Facebook as [Your Page]. Open or Visit the pages you want to Like. [Like].

Featured Likes:
Featured Likes allows you to Like Pages and select which can be displayed, up to five at a time, on the left hand side of your page.
Settings – Featured – Likes [Add Featured Likes]

Featured Page Owners:
Personal Information of the Featured Page owners will be displayed in the About section of your page. This page will be shown on their personal profile. If our Fan Pages are the way we are supposed to do business on Facebook then I am sure I want my page(s) where they can be found on my Profile.
Settings – Featured – Page Owners [Add Featured Page Owners]

Changes in About:
The About Section, “Page Info”, of the Public Figure Page has many more categories of information than the Community Page. You will want to review these options and see which ones you want to use.

On Profile Images and Names:
I have observed that when choosing from multiple accounts or pages, it is a good Idea to have different Images. In this case I did make a change from my standard profile picture. I may not have gone far enough, yet. When I set up the name, I naturally chose, “Curtiss Martin”. After having a little trouble differentiating between my Profile Page and my new Public Figure Page, I changed it to “Curtiss Martin n-n”. The “n-n” is a short Indicator that I use for Nove-Noga. (See my favicon at the beginning of this PR.)

Recap:
Have you claimed your Public Figure Fan Page, yet? When I started considering Internet Marketing, I understood that I would need to make myself stand out. I tried searching for myself on the net. *Note: To get an honest search from Google, you need to log out.* I found nothing but some football player. Now it has been almost three years and many things have changed. That football player still shows up in the search but I am definitely on page one. Nove-Noga is right where I planned. Page one again. Nove-Noga!
