We Need To Respect People With Sickle Cell!

My great-niece has been in the John Hopkins All Children's Hospital,

for 8 weeks as of today, she has Sickle Cell. (Florida 07-06-19)

Sickle Cell discease is a group of inherited red blood cells disorders.

People who have sickle cell discease have an abnormal protein in

their red blood cells. Over time, sickle cell discease can lead to

complications such as infections, delayed growth, and episodes

of pain, called Pain Crises. Google June, 2019.

Treatments include medications, blood transfusions and rarely

a bone-marrow transplant.

Sickle cell is also a form of anemia a condition in which there

aren't enough heathy red blood cells to carry adequate oxygen

throughtout the body. In sickle cell anemia, the abnormal

hemoglobin ( causes red blood cells to carry oxygen) causes

red blood cells to become rigid, stickly and misshapen.

The sickle cell gene is passed from generation to generation

called; autosomal recessive inheritance. If the parent have the

sickle cell trait, it can be pass to their children.

My nephew and his wife, Rahn J. and Tynise Hortman have

4 children, the oldest (Rahn J. Hortman Jr) has sickle cell and

the youngest and only daughter (Rionna) has sickle cell too.

She spend as of today 8 weeks in the hospital since her 17th

birthday (In pain).

April the 2nd 2019, my great-nephew Rahn Jr., ( Just graduated as an Law student with honors).

He travel from Florida to DC. alone, as an SCD advocate...

he quoted "to voice my opinion and make an impact pertaining

to sickle cell as well as addressing a lot of the sitgmas that affect

many sickle cell patients, treatment, and care."

His father is speaking out on Facebook, asking for help and he

quotes..."My daughter has been hospitalized in pain for over

7 weeks! Member of the staff at Florida Johns Hopkins All

Children Hospital, disregard her pain and her condition.

Actually saying, she can't be in that much pain and refuse to

treat her properly.

INHUMANE!!! Instead they are treating sickle cell patients like

they are drug seekers. Her pain is real!

We deserve the same respect as cancer patients. Your Sickle

Cell Clinic is doing absolutely nothing except consistently trying

to force us to take chemo drugs...It's a low dose so it suppose

to be safe...When you question them; Now guards are outside

of the room, as if I'm a threat. I've been a customer for 15 years,

and my insurance has paid over $250,000."

He has more to say, please pass it on...

Some information about Sickle Cell Came From This Site!

Thanks for reading.
