If you’re spending hours a day working from home, It’s always wise to know where all your efforts are going. Just going online and looking for business has its place, but just doing that all day typically isn’t time efficient for your business. Advertising for referrals:
You should be spending an hour or so a day putting ads out for referrals. These can be ads on free online marketing sites like Craigslist or any of the many online classified sites. This time can also be useful in returning emails to marketers who may not be aware of your marketing platform. Referrals can dramatically cut down on your advertising costs and become prospects for you.
Personal development time:
Some time each day should be devoted to some form of personal development. This time can be used for reading a set number of pages in one of the many popular self development books or listening for a set time to a cd for personal growth. It’s a good idea to keep those cd’s available in your car as back-ground sounds when you’re driving. Many can be found at your local library.
Helping new marketers:
As time goes by and you pick up skills and become more proficient in your industry it will be worthwhile to take some time each day to offer help or tips to new people coming into your business or just new marketers in general. This is not done expecting it to turn into business, its done to give back to the industry that gives so much to you. Think back to when someone helped you and how much that meant to you.
Exercise and breaks:
Make sure you schedule some time to get out of your home office into the fresh air and walk, bike or run for awhile. Its so easy to get swept up in online work and totally forget to take care of yourself. The quality of your work depends on you being alert and positive when dealing with new people. Even a short break every hour to get outside can make a huge difference in your attitude.
