I actually transitioned from many years in real estate to working from home full time. It began as just a day or two a week a few years ago but during the recession my part time company’s income began to overtake my real estate business and I eventually went full time working from home.
I also found that when the economy is weak, people tend to find themselves in situations they weren’t prepared for. So many were under water with their home mortgages and had to sell “today” which just wasn’t possible. In a real estate climate like that you find yourself working with a lot of people in major distress.
My transition to full time from home was fairly easy in that I already worked for myself. I simply added an hour of my day to working from home, from working on real estate. You really need a framework to follow just like any other schedule. I get up at the same time everyday and get to work by the same time and do my schedules tasks which begin by answering any and all communications.
After answering all emails, messages, skypes and making any needed phone calls I spend my first hour following up with prospects and the rest of the morning making sure I have a blog at least in process for that day. If its not done I finish it after lunch. Certainly some days I get pulled away an d my schedule suffers but over the years, I’ve seen that a definite daily schedule is necessary for successful outcomes.
Working from home full time is definitely something one should strive for. There are so many pluses it hard really to list them all. One is certainly the feeling of job security in an economy that is as volatile as the current one. Another plus is of course all the tax write offs. Its amazing how so much of your life is deductible in home based business. Your car use, travel and home office offer you tax breaks not previously available.
