When Working from Home, Know Your Enemies

Working from home is about the coolest thing you can do for a living. I’ve been doing it full-time for years and I wouldn’t trade it for any other profession. There are however, things we all need to watch out for. These things can sabotage your work and income in a home based business.
1.) Procrastination:
Possibly the number one enemy you have, working from home is the little demon known as procrastination. That’s right, putting things off that should be done now. It’s too easy when you have no boss to say, “well, I can always get that done tomorrow”, when you know you planned on doing that today. That’s why a written schedule with daily goals is a must when working from home.
2.) Distractions:
Working from home has that two-sided coin, “home”. It’s great to be able to make your own lunch and brew your own coffee at “work”, however, that television is a little too inviting sometimes. Going out to sit in the yard would be nice but you’re at work. That’s why you need to schedule break times and stick to them. Give yourself time to take a walk. Schedule your lunch break and stick to it.
3. Biz-Op Hopping:
Sure, you could be doing better and every Biz-Op out there will tell you they can make you rich in literally minutes so why not give them a try? If you’ve done your due diligence and researched your current company completely, you should know by now whether or not, you’re with a good company. The money may seem greener on the new “next big thing” but give your company real chance before jumping ship. However, if you do find something obviously better, don’t be afraid to do it.
4.) Home Based Frustration:
Most people who work from home will tell you, it did seem like it would be easier than it is. Most people don’t like being told “no”. Just like in real estate and any other solitary type business, you’re going to get dozens of no’s before you get a yes. When frustration and even depression sticks its nose under the tent, turn your scheduled break into an outside power walk. Mine is an eleven am, fifteen minute walk listening to either happy music or personal development cd’s. Break the chain of negativity & treat yourself.

But then I got all frustrated because their site was slow and having problems, so i just decided to let procrastination in and worry about it tomorrow. |
