King Solomon's Secrets to Success, Wealth and Happiness Part 1

This is my take on Steven K Scott national bestseller book "The Richest Man Who Ever Lived" (Chapters 1 and 2). Steve Scott flanked out of every job he held in his first six years after college. He couldn't succeed no matter how hard he tried. Then a friend challenge him to study the Book of Proverbs. Steve started to apply to his life a set of principles described in the book, and in two years he became a multi-millionaire.

Today, Steve Scott is a billionaire and my friend and partner. He is not only a great businessman, but an extraordinary human being as well. Here is Part 1 of the principles and strategies he shares in his book:

Key concept: "Just as there are physical laws that govern the physical universe, Salomon reveals "laws of living" that invisibly govern all aspects of life and shows us how to use them to our advantage".

"Do you see a man diligent in his business? He shall stand before kings". Proverbs 22:29

If we study the lives of many of history's most successful people, we will see that every one of them learned and use one simple powerful skill: Diligence

Salomon was not talking about diligence as most people understand it (a persistence and hard working effort). He was talking about a learnable skill that combines creative persistence, a smart working effort rightly planned and rightly performed in a timely, efficient and effective manner to attain a result that is pure and of the highest quality of excellence.

How do you develop that skill?

1) Wake up to reality ("How long will you lie there?...when will you get up from your sleep?...poverty will come on you like a bandit and scarcity like an armed man." Proverbs 6:9-11)

We think that we have more time than we really do to achieve our goals and dreams, so we procrastinate. Salomon tells us WAKE UP! Take responsibility for your life, your attitudes, your values and how you spend your time.

2) Define your visions ("Without a vision, the people perish." Proverbs 28:19)

If we have no vision, we lose our direction, creativity, energy, but when we have a vision we get a new source of energy, creativity, commitment and motivation. Defining your vision is an essential componen of true diligence. You need to know what you want to achieve.

3) Partner effectively ("Plans fail for lack of counsel, but with many advisers they succeed." Proverbs 15:22)

Finding the right people to help us plan and who may be more knowledgeable in areas we are not, greatly increases the chances of success. The diligent person asks for counsel from the beginning and does not wait for problems to arise to do so.

4) Pursue wisdom ("How much better is to get wisdom than gold! And to get understanding is to be chosen above silver." Proverbs 16:16)

The final component to become a diligent person is to pursue wisdom and build your life upon its foundation.

Becoming truly diligent has many rewards, as you will gain a sure advantage on your endeavors, you will be in control of your destiny and experience ever-increasing success and the respect and admiration of others.

Warning! Fight laziness with all your might! Laziness creates a painful barrier to personal achievement and the more you give in to it, the stronger an habit it will become. It is the greatest danger to your success.

In the next press release, you will discover how to develop an empowering vision for each important project and priority in your life.
