MLM Success: What Should You Lead With? Your Product Or Your Business Opportunity?

This is one of the commonest questions in network marketing. Some say that it is best to lead with the product because people have to believe in the product first. Others say that it is better to lead with the business opportunity to bring in network builders.

Well, I say that it depends. You can achieve great success or failure by leading with either. The trick is in knowing when to tell your prospect about your product or opportunity.

And how do you know when is the right time? – By getting to know them first, you’ll know the right time and not only that, you’ll also get to know what they want.

Build relationships first with your prospects first before “pitching” to them whatever you have to offer them. For instance, are they looking to make money or do they want to improve their health? One of the ways to find out what your prospects want is to probe and ask questions.

By knowing what they want, you will be providing them with solutions to their problems. And by providing them with solutions, you are positioning yourself as someone with credibility. That way, they are more likely to buy your product or follow you in your business. And remember, people buy from and follow those they know and trust.

So, as you see, the precise answer the question whether one should lead with their product or opportunity is lead with YOURSELF!! Build a personal brand as some one who takes time to care and provide solutions to others. Gone are the days of pitching our businesses and products to people to achieve our MLM goals. Times have changed. People don’t want to be sold too. But if you establish yourself as an authority, people will always want to come with you. People want to follow those they can benefit from. On the other hand, if you lead with your product or opportunity, you’ll have to take a lot of time talking to lots of people to hear you out before you can make a sale or opportunity sign up.

So at the end of the day, what matters is what your prospect wants not what you want. And you know what they want because you have embraced the principles of attraction marketing ( ) to establish yourself as an authority they would like to buy from or join in business.
