Finding Something, Anything to Be Grateful for

When I tell people that they should make a gratitude list everyday if they want to feel better, most of them laugh, chuckle or look at me strangely.

 

The truth is there is always something to be grateful for (even if sometimes the only thing you can think of is air).

 

Here’s a list from Mike Brescia (and me, of course) that should help even the most skeptical of skeptics find something to appreciate:

 

1) Your significant other or mate

2) Your best friend or confidant

3) Your boss, remember, most people don’t even have a boss (to love or curse)

4) Your colleagues or team members

5) Your children or maybe, their children

6) Your parents (just think they either taught you how to live well or what not to do———they did the best they could)

7) Extended family: cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, in-laws

8) Your country and the freedoms and liberties that many have the RIGHT to fight for)

9) Neighbors

10) Favorite TV or Cable Shows

11) Music—favorite singers, musicians or genres

12) Pets

13) Your schooling, education or degree

14) The bad habit you gave up or overcame

15) Your home, car, yard, garden or any other space that brings you joy…

Now, can you think of some?

 

Everyday grace is a way of life,
