Not My Best Moment but I took the Path of Least Resistance

In every moment, we have a choice......

Early this morning, we had a major thunderstorm in my neck of the woods. My area experienced a minor power outage. Nothing serious but when you're tired and just trying to tie a few loose ends up, a minor issue becomes a major annoyance.

So here's the two-cents of it all....

lights went off and came back on. My router got knocked out of whack. I couldn't figure out how to fix it, I begin to get hotter and hotter and more determined to fix it (instead of heeding the voice in my head, telling me to just go to bed and deal with it in the morning). Then, I try to get in touch with tech support at Cisco for my Linksy router who tells me that Belkin is now in charge of that, and I need to call this other 800 number.

I call this other number and the personn who answers needs all my personal info (name, address, e-mail, etc) before dealing with my issue. Finally, she asks for my router info and my challenge. Then she tells me that my router is about 5 years old and is no longer under warranty so I could purchase online tech support for $39.95 fo 6 mos. So, I try and ask if there are any tips she could give me to try on my own (mind you, I have already disconnected and reconnected the router to the outlet, to the internet connection and tried to reboot on my own). So she replies, "No, not unless I purchase the online support." Well, I'm beyond mad and angry and tell her, "For that price, it seems more reasonable to just invest in another router" and she then agrees, "It is probably better to upgrade than to buy the online support for 6 mos for the $39." So, I'm pissed and tired and sleepy and state that the more I talk to her, the angrier I'm getting so the best thing for me to do is to get off the phone. She agrees and states again about the $39. I tell her that she keeps repeating the same thing over and over again and that this is helping no one and she continues, I hang up.

In that moment, I made a choice. I could no longer listen to the sales babble. I was at the end of my rope and instead of going on a verbal rampage, I took the path of least resistance and hung up the phone.......Not my best moment but the best, I could come up with at the time......

Somehow, I was able to get some functionality before going to bed. The router is working somehow......I can't tell you how and I can't access its settngs but I'm all good. Not concerned or bothered!
