Do Not Resist The Changes You Have To Make

I first published  this article on 9/25/2015  Now repurposed

"A wise man adapts himself to circumstances, as water shapes itself to the vessel that contains it."

Chinese Proverb

There comes a time when you are involved in a few programs, you have to make changes. Deciding what to be rid of and what to keep.

"After you've done a thing the same way for two years, look it over carefully. After five years, look at it with suspicion. And after ten years, throw it away and start all over."

~Alfred Edward Perlman, New York Times, 3 July 1958

The above quote is in some ways relevant to today but 5 or10 years is a long time  in deciding to throw it away if whatever you are doing is not working. It might well have been relevant to the times...1958? Certainly not now!

Over the past months and thinking back on all the challenges, I have come to the conclusion that there are decisions to be made as to changes that must take place. All reports are that challenges are ongoing.

Circumstances have forced certain online interests on hold or ceased?  When you are faced with this kind of challenge,  there are changes you have to make, forcefully or otherwise.

"He who rejects change is the architect of decay. The only human institution which rejects progress is the cemetery."

~Harold Wilson

You often get caught up in the programs associated with your business and then begin to question yourself - what am I not doing right? Am I giving the program the time I should be?  It is difficult to resist the changes you have to make because you are continuously following, through loyalty and trust those who first introduced you to the system.

Why? Because they know, or are supposed to. You are often told to follow the successful ones but except for a few you are not always given the details and not out of deliberateness, but rather from the assumption that you know the simple information or explanations to follow.

I have observed that over the more recent years online marketing communication, training, and sharing have become significantly more detailed, easy to follow and with more clarity. .

When I first started online it took me a while to figure out what certain acronyms meant, and then thankfully I discovered that all you have to do is Google the terms and you get your answers while at the same time learning something new. It has been awhile.

This I understand ...It becomes difficult when those you trust constantly pitch programs at you forgetting that you need the time to absorb and understand what was originally introduced, in order to make it work for you.

Is this the game of blame? Certainly not!  What it is, is recognizing that you have not set your own ground rules to follow in the changes you have to make. Too many fall in that trap. And this is why it is important to build strong relationships.

But What rules are those?

1. Focus on one thing until you've, learned it thoroughly and apply before moving to the next thing or opportunity.
2. When you learn and apply share that knowledge with someone who could benefit. That attitude will do two things:
a) help you recognize what you know and
b) make you aware of how much more you need to know.

When the winds of change blow, some people build walls and others build windmills. ~Chinese Proverb

This is not about giving up. It is about downsizing, reframing your circumstances and using a different approach, if you are to continue as against removing yourself from the online arena all together. That! should not be an option.

Sometimes you have to Stop! Take a good look and decide a way forward.

So first you list the programs you are in, create a rebirth and make a choice:

  • Deciding to maintain those programs with one time payments
  • Programs that are paid for yearly and not expected to become due anytime soon
  • Programs similar in nature - deciding which ones to remove from the equation
  • Keep those that connect to other products and will be of greater benefit using available conectivity thereby creating passive income.
  • Do your homework ...research.

Your life deserve to have the concentrated effort of your courage and do not judge the possibilities based on your circumstances. Just focus on the changes you have to make.
