Happy Thanksgiving everyone,
Today In the United States we celebrate the Thanksgiving Holiday.
I wanted to take just a few moments to reflect on the true meaning of Thanksgiving.
In the hustle and bustle of our modern world, especially here in the United States, I think we take our world and our life for granted. I believe for many people the true meaning of this day has been lost.
For many people Thanksgiving is the start of the Christmas shopping season, a paid day off work, a time to watch a parade with big balloons on TV, a time to watch Football, For those outside the US the Dallas Cowboys and the Detroit Lions always play a home football game on Thanksgiving Day, a four day weekend, etc..
This Thanksgiving I wanted to hit the pause button and reflect on the true meaning of this day.
The legend, as I understand it, is that the Pilgrims and the Natives of the New World got together for a feast to celebrate the bountiful harvest and their new found friendship. The Pilgrims wanted to thank the Natives for their help in survival in the strange new wilderness.
So on this Thanksgiving Day, I want to take pause and give thanks for all the things I have to be grateful for.
Thanks to God:
For sending his Son, Jesus Christ, to die for our sins and save us from our sinful nature.
For my family. My wife Suzanne of 22 years and our three Children who have all now grown up healthy and happy.
For helping me to keep my diabetes and other health problems under control. So that I can live a fairly productive life.
For providing me with a job to help support me and my family.
For allowing me to live in this great country where I am free to write this article without fear of government reprisal.
For all the blessings God heaps upon us daily, even when we forget to thank Him.
Thanks to Country:
For providing security and protecting us from those who would do us harm.
For the Constitution and the Bill of Rights that protects our personal liberty.
For trying to help people all over the world to experience the true freedom we as Americans take for granted.
Thanks to all of you:
Who took time out of your busy schedule to read this article and to also take pause, think, and reflect about what you have to be thankful for and the true meaning of Thanksgiving.
